Striking Out Hunger, One Frame at a Time

Held on March 1st and hosted by Shores Bowl, Throw a Strike Against Hunger brought together neighbors for a day of laughter, friendly competition, and community spirit. Strikes were thrown, bake‑sale treats disappeared quickly, and the message rang out clearly: in Ocean Shores, no one faces hunger alone.

Thanks to everyone who bowled, baked, donated, and showed up with heart. Your support helps keep our shelves stocked as March roars in—and ensures that every family in our community is met with kindness and care.

IGA Shoppers "Round Up" for the Food Bank

The Ocean Shores Food Bank is grateful to have been the beneficiary of the IGA’s Round‑up this month. Our thanks go to the entire IGA team for championing this effort and to the many generous shoppers who chose to “round up” at the register.

Those small acts of kindness add up quickly, helping us keep our shelves stocked and ensuring that every neighbor who turns to us is met with care and dignity.

Ocean Shores is a wonderful, generous community and we are proud to be part of it.

A retired gentleman in Ocean Shores recently opened his home to his daughter and her three young daughters as she works through a difficult custody battle. What was once a quiet, carefully budgeted retirement has become a lively household overnight, stretching his fixed income far beyond what it was meant to cover.

Groceries from the Ocean Shores Food Bank have helped the family stay steady during this unexpected season. He shared that the generosity of this community has brought real comfort and hope to all of them as they navigate the road ahead.

Helping Ocean Shores Weather March’s Lion Days Together

March arrives with its familiar mix of roaring winds and gentle sunshine—a month that comes in like a lion and, we hope, goes out like a lamb. At the Ocean Shores Food Bank, we feel that same shift each spring. The early months of the year often bring a surge in need, yet they also bring the steady kindness of neighbors who refuse to let anyone in our community face hunger alone.

Your generosity—whether through food donations, volunteer hours, or financial gifts—continues to be the calm in the storm. Because of you, families who might otherwise struggle can count on a warm meal and a sense of dignity. Every can of soup, every jar of peanut butter, every dollar given helps soften the “lion” days for someone right here in Ocean Shores.

As we move toward the gentler days of spring, we ask for your continued support. The need remains high. If you’re able, a donation this month will help ensure that every household in our community feels the “lamb” side of March—comfort, hope, and the reassurance that their neighbors care.

Thank you for being the heart of this work.

With your help, we can make sure no one in Ocean Shores goes hungry, no matter how the winds of March may blow.
