We have IRS forms and instruction booklets in the lobby. If you need forms other than what you see there, we are happy to print them for you at the main desk. Copies are 25 cents a page. This year’s tax deadline is April 15th

A Seal's Journey

Wednesday, March 11 at 5:30pm

Join Marine Mammals of Maine (MMoME) as they take you through a seal’s journey from stranding to release, and all of the obstacles in between. Starting with seal basics such as: whether it’s normal for them to be out of the water and why you might see a baby on its own and dive into when and why seals need out help. You will learn about what MMoME is, what they do, the animals they care for and how you can help.

From the Director

I’m so excited — our online auction is just around the corner, running April 13–19! Once again, our community businesses and wonderfully supportive patrons have donated some truly fantastic items. We even have a stand-up paddleboard this year. If you’d like to donate an item, gift card, or special experience, we’d be thrilled to include it. I know many of you have unique talents to share.

This auction is one of my favorite events. Starting March 15, our auction website will go live so you can preview everything up for grabs. We’ll continue adding donations as they come in, so check back often. And once bidding opens, it’s always such fun to watch the friendly competition — the outbidding, the surprises, and the “I never knew I needed this!” discoveries. Come play along.

As our second largest fundraiser, it’s going to be a wonderful week for the library and the community.

All my best,

Lesley Unger

Spice of the Month

The March Spice of the Month is… bay leaf! Bay leaves are considered an aromatic used to give food an umami flavor. You can find them dried or fresh, but you should always remove them before serving because they remain stiff and are unpalatable. This month’s recipe is a festive one that highlights bay leaf with an Irish flair. Check out this month’s recipe online or at the main desk: Traditional Irish Colcannon. Enjoy!
