The Library has been awarded the Illinois State Library Project Next Generation 2026 Grant! This $11,261 grant will be used to launch the East Moline Public Library Digital Art Series for grades 5-12. Students will learn how to create digital art using iPads. Each session will last 4 weeks and focus on a different art app each week. We will host 2 sessions for grades 5-8 and 2 sessions for grades 9-12 in June and July. Stay tuned for more details.
The Library is excited to announce a partnership with the Robert Young Center. They will be hosting office hours at the library Fridays from 2-4. They are able to help with a variety of services including: mental health, SNAP benefits, housing assistance, healthcare resources, and Medicaid applications. No appointment is needed.
The Library is finalizing an agreement with Transitions Mental Health Services and hopes to have a social worker available at the library in the near future. We will provide more details once hours of service have been determined.

Director’s Bookshelf
107 Days by Kamala Harris: I really enjoyed listening to this book, narrated by the author. Former Vice President Kamala Harris takes us through the 107 days of her presidential campaign, providing behind the scenes details, the logic behind every decision made, and her own thoughts and feelings day by day.
Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera: I thoroughly enjoyed this modern-day murder mystery. Listen for the Lie utilizes a growing trend in mystery books by incorporating a podcast into the story. For me, this element was done exceptionally well and fit perfectly with the flow of the story and added immensely to the suspense and story line. I highly recommend listening to this book to get the full effect of storytelling.
Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams: Talk about shattering illusions! Sarah Wynn-Williams was a top level Facebook employee for many years and was ultimately terminated in 2017 after issuing a sexual harassment complaint against one of Facebook's executives. Sarah reveals some truly horrific behavior by the heads of Facebook, which have me seriously questioning whether or not to continue using the platform.

NOTES FROM THE FRIENDS
Top of the morning to you! And so we turn another page of the calendar.
I hope that you've been enjoying the warmer weather and that you've been able to go to the library and enjoy some of the great programs that they have been offering. Watch Facebook for the "DINE TO DONATE", where a portion of what you spend at a restaurant is given to the library for the outreach vehicle! Some of the participating restaurants are Godfathers and Papa Johns - dates will be announced soon! Please stop in the library to see the cool banner that is tracking the progress of the donations.
Until next month - enjoy reading!
