eSUMMIT 2027

eSUMMIT IS MOVING TO TEMPE, ARIZONA

The next eSummit is March 9-10, 2027, at the Omni Tempe Hotel in Tempe, Arizona. It's where OEMs, ITAD providers, recyclers, policymakers, and industry organizations come together to connect and work through the biggest challenges in electronics sustainability. The 2027 program is built around presentations, facilitated roundtables, working sessions, and peer conversations. Leading up to the event, we're also hosting a webinar series to get those conversations started early.

R2 LICENSE APPLICATION

WHEN A NEW R2 LICENSE APPLICATION
IS AND ISN'T REQUIRED

We've updated the License Application page to clarify when a new SERI License Application for R2 Certification is and isn’t required. If you're certifying a new facility, moving to a new location, or reentering the R2 Certification program after a withdrawn certificate, you'll need to submit a new application. Transferring to a new Certification Body, updating your company name, or requesting copies of existing documents do not require a new application.

SERI IMPACT MEASUREMENT

FINAL REPORTING DEADLINE: MAY 1

The window to receive a customized individual facility report has closed, but the final deadline to submit your mandatory 2025 Impact Measurement data is May 1, 2026. All submissions contribute to SERI's annual R2 Impact Report, which documents the collective impact of the R2 network. Visit the Impact Measurement webpage for resources and assistance.

MOBILE REPAIR ACCELERATOR

BUILDING THE WORKFORCE
DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE IN INDIA

SERI is proud to facilitate the Mobile Repair Accelerator, a workforce development initiative in Hyderabad, India, aimed at building a professional repair workforce in one of the world's largest smartphone markets. Developed in collaboration with Google, TSSC, and Britco & Bridco, the program trains junior-level technicians in diagnostics, data sanitization, grading, and component-level repair, creating pathways into the formal economy for workers currently operating without recognized credentials.

REMINDER

HONG KONG WASTE DISPOSAL ORDINANCE

All imports of used electronics into Hong Kong are considered waste unless they are “functional or properly repaired and can be reused for their originally intended purpose at the state of import.” If any further processing is required, they are considered waste under the Hong Kong Waste Disposal Ordinance (WDO), which prohibits imports from non-Basel parties, such as the U.S. This is not a new change to the law. Compliance with applicable laws is a requirement of R2 Certification (Core 4 and Appendix A), and non-compliance can result in revocation of your R2 Certificate.
