March 21, 2025

Dear Parents,

Happy Spring and hopefully the warm weather will come soon.

In 2023, lawmakers passed legislation known as Act 20, which requires schools to assess early literacy skills for students in grades K 4 - Grade 3. We will be implementing new diagnostic assessment tools to enhance students' reading comprehension. We will be starting a new curriculum (still to be determined) for the science of reading, relying on phonics, with this.

We are also adopting I-Ready testing into our K5 - 8 curriculum for the upcoming I-Ready testing that combines a diagnostic assessment with personalized instruction in teaching reading and math skills, helping teachers understand student needs and tailor learning experiences. This program also helps monitor progress, ultimately aiming to support all learners in achieving academic success.

Have a great weekend and if you haven't registered for next year yet, please do so ASAP.
