Hi everyone! I hope all is well with you, and that you are getting some time around your game table with family, friends, and your favorite games this spring.

We have a bunch of new items and information this month, so let's get right to it. But I want to start with today's one piece of "less than awesome" news:

------------
March, April Game Shipments Delayed. This was a surprise to us, and not a welcome one. It seems every couple of years Tony gets a note from the printers along the lines of "oh, by the way, your games are going to be delayed by about six weeks." The issue varies, but there's never really any recourse - just a delay to deal with. Ugh. These printers do an otherwise really good job for us, both in terms of overall supply chain reliability and quality of components, so we are generally quite happy with them. But these occasional out-of-the-blue delays are really frustrating.

So, we're sorry, folks, but several games that we thought were going to be late March and April deliveries are not going to be on your gaming tables until May. We will have four mounted maps to ship out in April, but as for games, except for Galipoli 1915  (which I'm very much looking forward to playing!), it looks like nothing else new until May.  And, as you might expect, this is likely to have a bit of a cascading effect, that moves subsequent games back a month or so past when we previously expected to ship them. Well, at least we haven't charged for any of the games yet, so nobody is out any funds. Still, we're sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

Now, on to the better news! We have a ton of new additions to our P500 list, plus COIN update kits, and P500 Reprint additions for you this month!

------------
New P500 Additions.  We have FOUR new P500 additions this time; three new boxed games and one expansion.

For all of you fans of The Hunters and Silent Victory, designer Greg Smith brings us Beneath the Med, another terrific WWII solo U-Boat game! This time, Greg immerses us in the Mediterranean Theatre, putting players in command of a variety of Italian subs in new and challenging missions. This new addition to the series brings you the familiar easy-to-play game system, as well as  the tremendous historical depth and detail that you've come to expect from Greg's games. If you want fast and fun U-boat action, this one's for you!

As you might imagine, when Volko told me last year that he was working on an entirely new series of games, I was thrilled! When he said it was a series of campaign/battle games set in feudal times, though, I wasn't sure whether it would have a large sales appeal (And yes, I am the guy who once wondered aloud to Richard Berg and Mark Herman whether "we can sell an ancients series" before we did GBoH, so I am aware that my crystal ball is sometimes cloudy!).

13th century warfare isn't exactly my wheelhouse, but hey, it's a design from Volko, so I knew the design itself would be interesting and that the simulation value of the game would be outstanding. Well, in November, I got to see Volko's prototype of Nevsky, game #1 in the Levy & Campaign Series, at Harold's convention in San Diego, and it blew me away! Frankly, this game is so innovative in the way it unrolls the tapestry of feudal warfare, politics, and intrigue that I'm not exactly sure how to describe it. So check out Volko's detailed description on the Nevsky P500 page to see for yourself.

Suffice to say that, once again, Volko has taken a somewhat obscure subject and turned it into a new and compelling gaming experience! Even if you're like me and not that informed about or interested in warfare from the feudal period, I think you guys are going to really like how Volko has brought that era to life in this series!

I love World War II operational-level games, and Ted Raicer's Dark Valley series of games really hits the complexity/playability sweet spot of operational games for me. I'm not sure how he does it, but Ted makes seemingly simple mechanics work really well to game and simulate complex conflict environments. Ah....Design Elegance. Now Ted has the Dark Valley series' newest game ready for P500 now. It's The Dark Summer, a look at the Normandy campaign from June to August, 1944. I can't wait to see this cool system applied to Normandy, and get a chance to play well past the June landings; from D-Day to the closing of the Falaise gap in late August.

----
Time of Crisis was definitely one of our hit games of 2017.  It sold out in about six months and gamer feedback has been excellent. Now Wray and Brad have created an expansion designed to make your play of Time of Crisis even more fun! It includes:
  • A new deck of cards which doubles your deckbuilding options and adds new strategies and card combinations.
  • Optional  Emperor Rules that allow you to move your emperor out into the provinces (this makes you more powerful, but it's risky)
  • Optional Solitaire Rules and rules for non-player factions, including three different AI Player profiles. This allows 1-3 players to enjoy a 4-player game of Time of Crisis.

------------
On the Horizon . Here's a brief tease as to what we have lining up for P500 addition in the coming few months. I anticipate that we will have
  • a new theatre-level naval game from Jerry White
  • a new strategic naval game from Jeff Horger
  • an expansion for one of our most popular games
  • a new volume for a popular WWII series
  • a surprise addition from an award-winning designer
------------
New Update Kits for Reprinted COIN series games .  As we near the release of the "COINFEST" games this summer, many of you have asked about the availability of Update Kits for these games. There is indeed new and/or updated information in each of the five COIN games we are reprinting. For owners of previous editions of these games, we're now offering update kits for four of the games (one is a combined kit). Please click the links below to get full details as to what is included in each of these update kits.

Andean Abyss 2nd Ed. Update Kit    Retail $20 P500 $14
Fire in the Lake Update Kit    Retail $45 P500 $30

We're not offering an update kit for  Falling Sky , because Ariovistus  includes the update kit. Tony indicates that an update kit printed at smaller quantities would cost almost as much as the entire Ariovistus  expansion module, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to us to offer an update kit for Falling Sky.  I doubt this will offend anyone, but on the off chance, if you just really don't want to get Ariovistus but want the updates for Falling Sky, we'll have a limited number of spare parts on hand after the COINFEST printing.

------------
New P500 Reprint Additions.
We're adding two popular games to our P500 reprint list this time.  They are:

Time of Crisis, 2nd Printing (this one sold out quickly!)

Please order now and help us get these popular games back in stock.

-----------
Expanded 2nd Edition and Update Kit for Red Winter.  WWII Operational gamers rejoice! Designer Mark Mokszycki has created an entire new battle for Red Winter It's the battle of Kelja, and adds a full-size map, counters, and playbook to the game!

We're going to offer this battle in two formats:

1. As part of the full Expanded 2nd Edition of Red Winter. Red Winter 2nd Printing has been on the P500 Reprint list for a while now (at $50/$35), and currently has 280 orders. Because we don't want to delete this item and start the P500s again from scratch, we're going to increase only the retail price (to $55) on this game, and include all the new battle components for you P500 folks at no additional P500 cost! So, essentially you P500 supporters are going to get a free battle out of the deal.

And, again because the logistics of tracking two separate P500 prices is a pain, we're going to extend that same deal ($35 P500 pricing) to everyone who orders the Expanded 2nd Edition via our P500 page. So, hopefully, a bunch of you guys will order, get a great game at a massive bargain price, and we can get enough extra orders to print the expanded game soon.

2. As a separate Red Winter Expanded 2nd Edition Update Kit. This kit will include the following:

1 x double-sided map
1 x counter sheet
1 x RuleBook (24 pages)
1 x expanded Playbook (64 pages)
1 x Kelja Playbook    (36 pages)
2 x Identical new Player Aid Cards
1 x ziplock

P500    $16.00    Retail    $25.00

UGG Update. We have two brief pieces of UGG news today.

1. Command & Strategy Issue #8 - Fortress Sevastopol - has been printed and has been shipped to us. So we'll be charging early next week the 122 orders for this item. If you have this on order, please make sure we have your valid credit card on file, as this one's been up on the P500 page for some time now.

2. UGG's other game on our P500 list, Maori, failed to get enough P500 support, and has been cancelled.

Coming This Week in InsideGMT.  Here's an update from Rachel on this week's upcoming InsideGMT articles:

We have lots of exciting new content on  InsideGMT this week! In case you missed it on Tuesday, we posted Issue #41 of our Talon Tuesday series from the Talon team. In this article, Jim Krohn continues to discuss the solitaire mode that can be found in Talon 1000, focusing on ships and the empire war this time. Check it out! On Wednesday, we published the latest installment of VPJ Arponen's article series, this time discussing the concept of terror in the COIN series and in All Bridges Burning. You can find that article here. Today, we published another article from Vladimir Vladov, this time with a narration/AAR of his first two battles in Battles of the Warrior Queen using the mini-campaign scenario ( found here) he authored previously on InsideGMT. This article is a fantastic read and you won't want to miss it! And stay tuned, because tomorrow we will be posting Part 1 in Joel Toppen's set of video AARs of his big  Next War: Poland campaign game! Design Updates:

All Bridges Burning - Designer VPJ Arponen

Over the course of the past month playtesting has continued vigorously. I'm extremely happy to be able to report that we've taken great strides towards getting the base game design finished. As noted in the previous update a month ago, throughout the development process the non-violent Moderates faction has proven to be the toughest faction to get right design-wise. However, I feel the latest tweaks have really elevated that faction's game play on a different level. With that, one of the major design challenges has been effectively completed. I can tell you, it is incredible to be able to say that!

With the base game close to being wrapped up, gradually the attention will now turn to tackling the great unknown: devising the first card-based solitaire system in the COIN Series. The first impressions I collected from the playtesters on the first draft of the non-players a while ago were very encouraging. However, I know a lot of work still lies ahead of us to make the non-players what we want them to be: easy to operate, competent opponents with a game play that comes as close as possible to how it feels to play the game among human players. - vez
