March 24 COVID-19 Update
By: Pastor Rachel Billups
Hi friends,
You may now expect two e-news updates weekly. The Tuesday issue, including this one, is designed to keep you informed about the COVID-19 impact on our Ginghamsburg movement.

Please note that if you are seeking info in general about COVID-19 then coronavirus.ohio.gov is a helpful source.

Okay, here’s what’s happening.

  • As you know, Ohio issued a “stay-at-home” order that became effective at 11:59pm on Monday. I hope that you and your family will be together safe and healthy at home as we protect ourselves and one another from the rapid spread of the virus. As a church, Ginghamsburg itself is exempt from the order. That being said, most of our active staff are currently working from home. When staff members are on campus, we never violate the “rule of 10” and still conduct our meetings via phone or Zoom. Sometimes we need access to our technology that is not available from home and to support our childcare center.

  • Our childcare center was just approved to be a COVID-19 licensed center. Based on our childcare staff who are available to serve during the pandemic, we believe we will be able to support four rooms with all spots reserved for parents who fall within a qualifying profession (medical personnel, first responders, etc.) as mandated by the state. Teacher/children ratios are limited to 1 teacher/4 infants and 1 teacher/6 children for non-infants. We will miss the rest of our students but are happy to think of them as being safely at home with those who love them the most. Keep praying for our teachers and administrators!

  • The ginghamsburg.org/live worship feed was viewed from 919 unique IP addresses (the internet’s equivalent to a postal address), and our Ginghamsburg and Fort McKinley Facebook pages attracted 3511 unique views. The YouTube posting has garnered 334 views so far. Our streaming service provider has struggled to keep up with demand. So, this weekend when you go to ginghamsburg.org/live or click on Live Stream from the app or website, you will be taken to a YouTube window instead. Of course, you can also still catch worship on Facebook each time: Saturday at 5, 6:30pm and Sunday at 9, 10:30am at facebook.com/ginghamsburg or 10am at facebook.com/fortmckinley.

  • Offering this week was $59,952. I am so grateful for all of you who stepped up and out in faith to resource Jesus’ mission in these extraordinary times. Your generosity allows our movement to keep serving the world that God so loves and to keep paying our active duty and furloughed staff for as long as possible. We remain relentless in our mission to help Jesus followers worship, grow and multiply. See below for a reminder of all of the ways that you can interact with your church each week.

  • Speaking of news, you have news of your own! Don’t keep it to yourself. What cool things are you and your neighbors doing on your own street or via your online community to love on, support, encourage or take care of others? Share your story on this post.

  • Some have asked about the United Methodist General Conference that was scheduled for May. It has been delayed to 2021. I don’t have specific dates yet but will keep you posted.

  • We have assembled a staff and servant care team that is reaching out to the families who call Ginghamsburg their church home. If we miss you, please reach out! Email care@ginghamsburg.org, or leave a voice mail at 937.506.0479.

I will be back with you for a new issue of the e-news this Friday and will see you in worship this weekend as we find hope and encouragement together! (Read on below for ways to stay connected.)

God bless…
