Congratulations! Gray Charter school was the highest rated in Newark by the state Department of Education
|
The state DOE released its school performance reports for the 2017-18 school year on Tuesday, giving schools across New Jersey a score of 0 to 100.
The Gray Charter School received a score of 95.04. The Gray Charter School is a K-8 school.
"The School Performance Reports are a tool designed to inform and empower entire communities," said Education Commissioner Lamont O. Repollet. "Not only can they be utilized by parents, educators and the general public, but school leaders can use the reports to help identify areas in which they can better meet the needs of students."
The rating system has its critics, and other state officials
have recommended that it's just one tool for evaluating a school's quality.
Not every school was included in the state's ranking....

VAWA Reauthorization Act of 2019
Call Your Members of Congress and Ask Them to Support H.R. 1585, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2019
The House Judiciary Crime subcommittee Chairwomen Karen Bass (D-CA-37) and Representative Brain Fitzpatrick (R-PA-1) have just introduced H.R. 1585, the bipartisan Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2019. This legislation reauthorizes VAWA grant programs and makes vital enhancements to existing law. Among them:
- Invests in prevention
- Improves enforcement of court orders that require abusers to relinquish their firearms
- Improves access to housing for victims and survivors
- Helps survivors gain and maintain economic independence
- Maintains existing protections for survivors
- Improves the healthcare system's response to domestic violence.
What YOU can do:
- Call your Representative and tell them to sponsor H.R. 1585.
- Call your Senators and tell them the Senate needs to introduce a bill with the same provisions as the House bill.
- Use social media to share the message! You can tweet at your representatives and show your support for reauthorized and strengthened VAWA legislation.
You can also call the Capital switchboard at (202) 224-3121. Choose "representative" and then give your zip code and you will be transferred to your representative. You can call back and do the same for your Senators.
Thank you for making your voice heard!
