REMINDERS

Now is a great time to check in with your advisees and get them thinking about fall/summer semesters. Students can create their own course plans or work with you to create course plans for Summer and Fall. Whether the student creates their own plan or meets with you to create one, you'll need to approve it.

Graduation Applications are due on March 14. To learn what you need to do to get a student ready for graduation, please attend the training referenced below! Students can access the graduation application in their Success Hub, located in the Portal. When communicating with students about graduation, feel free to use the snippet in the Advising Hub!

NEW DEVELOPMENTAL MODEL IN FALL 2025

Untitled Design

Starting in Fall 2025, Central Carolina will adopt a new model for developmental education with new placement policies. This new system will provide clearer pathways to gateway English and math enrollment. Students who have a 2.6 or higher unweighted high school GPA will be placed directly into a gateway math or English class without developmental coursework. Students who have less than a 2.6 GPA will be placed into a gateway class with a corequisite support course. Any student can be placed directly into ENG110 and MAT110. Corequisite classes will be coded differently than they have in the past. For instance, all the math corequisite classes will be MAT045 with a letter suffix that corresponds with the appropriate gateway math class. All ENG 111 corequisite classes will be ENG045. Just like in our current model, co-requisite sections will be paired with particular non co-requisite sections. Watch this video to learn more about our new developmental education model.
