Know Your IX Releases Report on Data from Over 100 Student Survivors' Surveys
Know Your IX has released The Cost of Reporting: Perpetrator Retaliation, Institutional Betrayal, and the Student Survivor Pushout. According to the report, their "survey of more than 100 student survivors who formally reported sexual violence to their schools found a massive failure on the part of schools to fulfill their obligations under Title IX. In fact, 39 percent of survivors who reported sexual violence to their schools experienced a substantial disruption in their educations." The report includes the adverse impacts on survivors, trauma of the reporting and investigation process, punishing survivors, perpetrator backlash, schools' disregard for survivor safety, schools prioritizing respondents, and recommendations.
