March 26 Greetings
Dear Ones,

It’s Friday, the end of the fourth week of March, as we continue to “Be Church Together” even as the church building is closed for gatherings. Gail Kenny would call this “Hug Day” for me, as it is two weeks since my second Moderna Covid-19 vaccination. I can now hug folks who are equally vaccinated! The state and our county have lowered the age for vaccinations to 18, so please consider making an appointment soon, we want to get ahead of any virus variants. I am so thankful for the scientists, the medical community, the drug companies, the transportation and logistics workers, the county, and medical workers and volunteers that have worked so hard in getting shots into arms so quickly!
Holy Week at Emmanuel
Holy Week arrives this Sunday March 28, beginning with Palm-Passion Sunday. We will worship online with a single recorded service available in the morning and in person with an outdoor service at 1:00 p.m. in the church parking lot. BYOLC (bring your own lawn chairs).

Maundy Thursday: April 1 will be celebrated with a single Zoom Worship at 7:00 p.m. Join us for communion, having your own bread or cracker and wine or grape juice on hand.

Good Friday: April 2 will have a brief recorded online service and the sanctuary at Emmanuel will be open from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. for a walk-through meditative experience. There will be six stations telling the story of the Christ’s death. Pr. Tricia will be on hand to be help us maintain the ten-person minimum in the sanctuary.

Easter Sunday Morning: On April 4 there will be a single recorded worship service including our Fabulous Family Easter Pageant available online, and a 1:00 p.m. Outdoor Worship with Easter Egg Hunt!
We’re still looking for a home for Kona, Marty Watkins’ pup. Kona is a spayed female Border collie mix, and weighs about 65 pounds. She celebrated her 10th birthday in October and has been Marty’s companion through significant losses in her life, and will need a new fur-ever home when Marty is gone. She is house trained and seems to get along with the other dogs at the board and care. If you or someone you know might be willing to take Kona in, please contact the church office.
Save your change for the Hungry Kids Project! Our local schools are conducting a Change Drive to be turned in by April 1, instead of the annual food drive. Our Lenten Special Offerings will go to it as well, so we should be able to help our adopted school, Liberty Traditional School, with their part of the drive. Bring you change and paper money (no checks, please) to the church Narthex and put it in the Hunger Jar. I’m so glad our donations go to a program that makes such a difference in our community.
Family fun is planned with sidewalk drawings and kite flying tomorrow, Saturday March 27 at 1:00 p.m., in the church parking lot. Pr. Adam and his helpers will be on hand with snacks and juice boxes for people of all ages. The sidewalk drawings will add to the celebration of Palm-Passion Sunday the next day!
Sunday School will be up and running for outside worship. If you have children 3 years of age through 5th grade, we will have activities for them during worship time beginning Palm Sunday, March 28, and an Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday.
The Yavapai County Community Health Services is still doing some cleanup of its database, so it is difficult to know what the positivity rate is for Covid-19 cases right now, but we are getting closer to our two-week 4% positivity rate that is our goal for returning to worship. Keep up the good work everyone, and continue to wear your masks in public.
