Women in Officiating Weekend is back for its 3rd year! 


On April 6-7, the WOW event will be heading to Seven Chiefs and Rally Pointe in Calgary.


We look forward to everyone coming together for the third annual Woman in Officiating Weekend!

Season Roster Lock

The Season Roster Lock is Thursday, March 28th at 11:59PM. Teams can add new athletes, active coaches, or players from a younger team in the club until the season roster lock deadline.


Lateral Movement Lock Reminder

Applicable only to clubs with more than one team in the same age class, these teams are required to have the same roster of athletes for Premier #2, Premier #3, Provincials, and Nationals. Clubs that laterally move athletes between rosters are not permitted to do so after Premier #2.

Provincials Pre-Orders

Thank you to everyone who participated in our 2024 Provincial Clothing Pre-order. The assigned pick-up person for each order can complete pick up on the Saturday morning of Provincials at the venue of the team’s first match. At pick up, please be prepared to verify, and sign for the order.


50/50: Three raffles, three chances to win!

Volleyball Alberta will once again hold 50/50 raffles at our Provincial weekends. The funds raised will support our Team Alberta programs. To play, scan the QR Code at your Provincials.


Sportsmanship Award

Volleyball Alberta is excited to announce our new Sportsmanship Award. During your Provincials tournament, nominate an official, athlete, coach, team staff, or fan from another team if you notice them creating a positive environment, being respectful, acting with honesty, being kind to others, competing with integrity, or other acts of sportsmanship. We will randomly draw one winner from the nominees for each weekend. All-Star Awards

During Provincials, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams in each division for 15U – 18U age classes will get to award their outstanding athletes with an All-Star Award. Good luck to all our teams!


Mikasa Achievement Awards

The Mikasa Achievement Awards are presented to athletes, coaches, referees and volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution to volleyball in Alberta for the indoor club season and beach season. For more information and to submit a nomination visit the Mikasa Achievement Awards page

GO SPORTS EDMONTON


The GO Sports Edmonton Spring programs start in April and will be offered at the Saville Community Sports Centre. These programs run for 8 weeks. Join the FUN in an open, inclusive, non-competitive learning environment! Thank you for your continued support and interest in the GO Sports Development Programs.


Openings still available in each program:

  • MiniVolley, 2 available spots.
  • Intro to Volley, FULL. Waitlist enabled.
  • Atomic 1, FULL. Waitlist enabled.
  • Atomic 2, FULL. Waitlist enabled.
  • Tripleball, FULL. Waitlist enabled.
  • GO League, 5 available spots.

This summer, Volleyball Alberta is proudly celebrating our 50th anniversary! Our very first Summer Camp held was the Jasper Volleyball Camp in 1974. Come celebrate this exciting milestone with us! Volleyball passion and life-long friendships run deep from our Jasper and Sylvan Lake Volleyball Camp legacy. SUMMER CAMPS - 50th ANNIVERSARY


Registration for the Sylvan Lake Summer Volleyball Camps will open on March 4th at 8am.


WEEK 1 July 7-12 (12-16yrs)

Sylvan Lake Overnight Camper - FULL.

Sylvan Lake Day Camper - 16/20 spots filled.


WEEK 2 July 14-19 (12-16yrs)

Sylvan Lake Overnight Camper - FULL.

Sylvan Lake Day Camper - 7/20 spots filled.


Spots are limited for each week for 60 overnight campers and 20 day campers. If the registration reaches maximum capacity, a waitlist will open. When spots open, we will invite participants from the waitlist to register on a sequential priority basis. 


Sylvan Lake Camp registrations will close on June 15.

Save-The-Date: Beach Tournament Registration will open on April 18 at 9am.

BEACH PROGRAMS EDMONTON


Youth Beach Programs at John Fry Park in Edmonton.


Volleyball Alberta is offering the following Youth Beach Programs for the 2024 Edmonton Beach Season:

  • Youth Beach Skill Development (14U-17U) starts Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
  • Beginner Level Beach Skill Development (12U-14U) starts Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
  • Youth Coed 2’s League (14U-17U) starts Thursday, June 6, 2024.


Registration will open on April 15, 2024.

Volleyball Alberta offers adult beach programs in Edmonton at John Fry Park Beach Volleyball Courts:

  • Women’s 2’s: Tuesdays starting from June 4
  • Coed 4’s: Wednesdays starting from June 5
  • Men’s 2’s: Thursdays starting from June 6

TEAM ALBERTA

Arctic Winter Games


Team AB North wins double gold in volleyball at the 2024 Arctic Winter Games! The women first defeated the hosts, Team Alaska, 3-1, then the men's team followed up with a 3-1 victory over Team Yukon. Congrats to the champs!


BIG thank you to Alaska and the Matanuska Valley for hosting! We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible volunteers and referees who made the #AWG2024 unforgettable! It truly was a celebration of athleticism, community and lasting memories!


We look forward to the 2026 Arctic Winter Games in Whitehorse!

Team Alberta Indoor


Over the past few months, athletes have been submitting their names for Team AB identification. Across all age groups, over 750 applications were received and Team AB coaches have been hard at work watching videos and evaluating applicants at VA Tournaments.

Team AB ID camps are currently underway, and 300+ athletes are getting an added opportunity to showcase their abilities in front of coaches and evaluators. ID Camp dates are:

·   Saturday, March 23 – 16U Girls ID camp

·   Sunday, March 24 – 15U Girls ID camp

·   Saturday, April 6 – 15U/16U Boys ID camp

·   Sunday, April 7 – 17U Girls ID camp

·   Saturday, April 13 – 17U Boys ID camp

Community Coach Workshops


The Community Coach Workshop is designed for club coaches looking to expand their knowledge of how to develop players in the Fundamentals (6-8) and Learn to Train (9-12) stages.

Development Coach Workshop


Numbers are capped at 16 coaches to facilitate the workshop effectively. 


DELIVERY: The Development Coach Workshop will consist of an Introduction (1 hr) and 3 Online Module sessions (2.5 hr).  Coaches will be required to watch pre-recorded videos lectures and complete assignments prior to each live online facilitated module. Coaches MUST attend all live online facilitated module sessions and participate in the activities. Coaches will NOT receive credit for the workshop if they do not attend a module.

  

COST: $150

Advanced Development Coach Workshop

 

Numbers are capped at 8 coaches to facilitate the workshop effectively.


DELIVERY: The Advanced Development Coach Workshop will consist of an Introduction (1 hr), 3 Online sessions (2.5 hr), plus Office Hours. After the Workshop Modules are completed, there will be a series of mutually scheduled meetings between the Workshop Coach and Learning Facilitator for the Drill Demonstration/Seminar components. Coaches MUST attend all live online facilitated module sessions and participate in the activities. Coaches will NOT receive credit for the workshop if they do not attend a module.


COST: $250
