GOOD FRIDAY

During tonight's solemn 6:00pm Good Friday service, we will read the seven statements that Jesus made on the cross, often called The Seven Last Words. These are drawn from all four Gospels and form a kind of narrative. After each of the scripture readings, the Dayspring Celebration Chorale will sing a Spiritual as a reflection on the passage. Join us in person or online.

EASTER MORNING

What will our Easter services in Tempe look like this year? First off, the 8:30 and 10:00 services are virtually identical. Our Boy Scout troop will be directing traffic all morning. The festival services feature organ, brass, piano, and the Dayspring Celebration Chorale. Children will be invited to participate in an (indoor, probably!) Easter Egg Hunt following Children's Time.

Given the forecast, we've decided to skip Snow Cone Sunday, but will have a special Hot Cocoa Sunday instead, benefitting our well project in Liberia. AND - we'll have a new photo backdrop in the Fellowship Hall for your family Easter photos!

FAMILY PROMISE

Dayspring will be hosting Family Promise, a temporary shelter for displaced families while they seek permanent housing, starting Sunday. From Easter to April 7, we will serve dinner and provide a safe comfortable place to sleep each night. Dayspring hosts four weeks a year. We invite you to volunteer with this ministry that helps families during a critical time of transition their lives. You can help by setting up Sunday school rooms into bedrooms before they arrive for the week, preparing a meal, hosting an evening activity (yoga, music, games, crafts, etc), providing food items for the week, clean up- laundering linens and restoring our Sunday school rooms at the end of the week. Email Robert Locke for more information. Our next week to host is August 11th- 18th.

UWF's BRIGHT IDEA

Watch this link for an introduction to the JUST ENERGY 4 ALL campaign. Click Here (skip the ad)

We are so blessed to have power and light when we need it. Think of the improvements a small donation can make in the lives of those who don't have light in the darkness. To Support JUST ENERGY 4 ALL - donate a certain amount of your choosing per light bulb in your house.

  • Decide on the amount you’d like to donate per light bulb.
  • Count all the light bulbs you have in and around your house.
  • Multiply the amount you decided on by the number of light bulbs you counted.
  • Checks should be made out to: United Women in Faith.

Watch this space in the coming Reflections for more links about United Women in Faith’s campaign to work for Climate Justice and mobilize members and communities to advocate for cleaner, 100% renewable, and just energy – for people and creation.

ZARA/HAMILTON SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE APRIL 1

Five scholarships of $1,000 for post-secondary education will be awarded. If there are more than five qualified applicants, then the committee will determine the awardees.
