Dear Ones,

It’s Monday in the last week of March…Holy Week as we continue to “Be Church Together” even as the church building is closed for gatherings. We had a wonderful gathering of 77 people for Palm-Passion Sunday yesterday. The weather was a glorious 70 degrees with just a gentle breeze. A big shout out to Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Carefree who shared their giant palm branches with us to add to the festive air!

Holy Week at Emmanuel

Maundy Thursday: April 1 will be celebrated with a single Zoom Worship at 7:00 p.m. Join us for communion, having your own bread or cracker and wine or grape juice on hand.

Good Friday: April 2 will have a brief recorded online service and the sanctuary at Emmanuel will be open from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. for a walk-through meditative experience. There will be six stations telling the story of the Christ’s death. Pr. Tricia will be on hand to be help us maintain the ten-person minimum in the sanctuary.

Easter Sunday Morning: On April 4 there will be a single recorded worship service including our Fabulous Family Easter Pageant available online, and a 1:00 p.m. Outdoor Worship with Easter Egg Hunt!

We are excited to announce that we have found a home for Kona, Marty Watkin’s beloved pup! Over the weekend, with the blessing of Renee, Marty’s daughter, Irene Clute was able to connect with a wonderful rescue home in Bullhead City. Kelly and Dennis happened to be visiting in Flagstaff over the weekend and Irene met them there with Kona. Kona will have a huge yard to play in and two other furry friends. Thank you everyone for your prayers!

These are the last few days to bring your change for the Hungry Kids Project! Our local schools are conducting a Change Drive to be turned in on Wednesday, March 31, instead of their annual food drive. Our Lenten Special Offerings will go to it as well, so we should be able to help our adopted school, Liberty Traditional School, with their part of the drive. Bring you change and paper money (no checks, please) to the church Narthex and put it in the Hunger Jar.

Saturday kite flying and chalk drawing by the children of Emmanuel was fun, and made for lovely Palm Sunday decorations!

As the trial regarding the death of George Floyd begins this week, we keep the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul in our prayers.
