The seventh grade learned about electromagnetic induction by creating their very own electric guitars from scratch. This was no easy task. Groups had to engineer their own solutions to creating the guitar body, tuning pegs, and pickup. For the pickup, groups had to wind roughly 2 miles of extremely delicate copper wire around a 3" x 0.5" spool before learning how to solder the wire to a guitar jack. After all their hard work they were able to hook them up to an amp and play a few songs!
