What's Happening this week: Fun Time with family/friends, Easter

Message from President Billie Araiza
Greetings!

I have some wonderful news to share with everyone! A dear friend of Patrica Cockcroft has named SI Chico as the beneficiary of her residency and estate in her Will. This will be a nice little nest egg for our Club to look forward to in the future. We certainly wish Carole a long, healthy, and happy life. Carole Mae Davis (pictured below), is a 2018 Camp Fire survivor. Patricia and Carole got to know each other when Carole stayed with Patricia after the Camp Fire. This was how Carole learned about SI Chico and all the wonderful things our club does. This made a lasting impact on Carole and she decided she wanted to support our club by naming SI Chico in her Will. I will provide more information on this story in our next Snail Newsletter.

I delivered the $2,000 check to the Honey Run Covered Bridge Association (picture below), last Wednesday. The funds will be used to landscape around the Caretakers Cottage. The Caretaker, Katie, and all the Honey Run Covered Bridge Association members were absolutely thrilled to receive the funds. They will be putting a small plaque up to honor our SI Chico club for sponsoring the landscaping. I was privileged to receive a personal tour of the reconstruction progress of the historical Covered Bridge. Walt shared all the in-depth details of what they have gone through to get the reconstruction of the bridge approved and the project going. We have so many wonderful nonprofits in Butte County working to improve our community. I am so grateful to live in Butte County and to be a member of an organization that continually gives back to our community and local nonprofits, helping to improve the lives of everyone who lives here.

It’s hard to believe we only have 3 months left of this club year. Thank you to everyone who attended the club meetings and committee meetings in March. Since this week is the 5th Wednesday of the month, we don’t have a club meeting this week. Please be sure to mark your calendars for next week’s Business Meeting on April 7, 2021. I hope everyone has a Happy Easter!

With Gratitude,

President Billie
