A HOLY WEEK MESSAGE FROM BISHOP CARLO

As we enter Holy Week this weekend, you are invited to watch this special message from our new bishop:

EASTER FLOWERS

On Easter Sunday, Dayspring's sanctuaries will once again be filled with beautiful spring flowers. Each flower is given as a memorial to or in honor of a special loved one or friend. In addition, gifts may also be made to UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief, in lieu of a flower. Both of these gifts will be listed in our Worship Bulletins, projected before services on Easter and online.

The cost per flower pot (tulips, Gerbera daisies, Easter lilies, etc.) is $20.00. This would also be a good guideline for your gift to UMCOR, though any gift would be welcome. The deadline is 8:00pm, April 4. Please make checks payable to Dayspring UMC and mark your check “Easter Flowers” or “UMCOR”.

TOOTHBRUSH COLLECTION

Throughout the month of March, the Children’s Ministry will be sponsoring a toothbrush drive to send along with the mission trip to Tochimizolco, Mexico. THIS SUNDAY is the last day to donate new, individually wrapped toothbrushes, floss, and travel sized toothpaste. The response has been overwhelming so far - THANK YOU!

HOLY WEEK IN A BOX

Children’s Ministry hosts a Holy Week in a Box event next Wednesday, April 5 from 5:30-7:00 in Fellowship Hall. Join us for this open house style event that will be full of activities, crafts, and learning to lead your family through the Holy Week experience. Activity stations will begin at 5:30 and run continuously through 7:00 so come when you can, as this is an ongoing event where kids will get the opportunity to create and experience their way through Holy Week.

MAUNDY THURSDAY

Our Taizé-style Maundy Thursday communion service, with music from the Celebration Singers, is Thursday, April 6 at 6:00pm. Our music includes “The One” by Craig Courtney and Harry T. Burleigh’s simple but haunting arrangement of the spiritual “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?”

GOOD FRIDAY

The Dayspring Chorale will sing the original version of the Fauré Requiem, accompanied only by organ at 6:00pm on Good Friday, April 7. Fauré’s work is remarkable among Requiem settings for its focus on consolation and redemption. Dayspring Arcadia will show the film Jesus Christ Superstar on Good Friday, April 7, at 7:00pm in the park.

EASTER MORNING

Tempe: Join us on Easter morning, April 9 for festival celebrations with brass and choirs at 9:00 and 10:30 in Tempe.

Arcadia: Arcadia’s celebration begins at 11:00am and is followed by an Easter Egg Hunt in the park at noon.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

VBS is for children ages 3 (by Jan 1 of this year) through entering 6th grade. Church members and returning campers can already register online HERE.
