Dear Cabrillo Students,

Welcome back from Spring Break! We hope you got to enjoy some downtime, and that some of you were able to take advantage of the remote/online tutoring resources available through STEM/MESA and the ILC in Watsonville.

A few important developments took place over the past week:

ONLINE INSTRUCTION THROUGH MAY 5 & SUMMER SESSION ONLINE
School districts in Santa Cruz County have all moved back their dates for possible return until after May 5. Likewise, Cabrillo's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) team has set a date to continue online-only course delivery through May 5th, or until further notice. This will help our region's efforts to shelter in place, minimize the spread of the virus, and help "flatten the curve" so our hospitals are not overrun with cases. We have already made the decision to have summer courses be online only, which included the very difficult decision to cancel the Cabrillo Stage summer season performances.

PASS/NOT PASS RESTRICTIONS EASED
The Chancellor's Office continues to do great work relaxing Title 5 restrictions during this period. Pass/Not Pass grading options are now open to any student who wants to do so, regardless of the date of the request. Should you choose to do this, please check in with your instructors. A special note however: Pass/Not Pass can have implications for a student's transfer credit, so it should be done in consultation with your counselor.

CHROMEBOOK AND LAPTOP LOANER PROGRAM
We want you to stay enrolled in your classes and succeed from home! Cabrillo staff members have been hard at work to help those without access to technology devices, and have secured Chromebooks and a smaller number of laptops, to loan out to students like you!

To be eligible to receive one of these loaner devices, please complete the application form

Once we have reviewed the forms received and have more details on the distribution process, you’ll receive an email or phone call letting you know how to receive them.

Distribution will begin this week Wednesday, so if you’re considering dropping a class, hang in there - help is on the way!  

We are also working on the internet connectivity/Wi-Fi challenges many are having and more information will be available soon.

In the meantime, if you don’t have access to internet connectivity/Wi-Fi, here is a list of available programs for free or low-cost network connectivity:

Charter, Spectrum and Comcast are offering two months of free internet to households based on income level. WiFi hotspots will also be open for the public. Please use the numbers below to arrange services:
