From The Pastor's Desk:
Welcome to Lent. A season set apart for sinking deeper roots into our living faith. During children's sermons this Lent, I will be teaching the Lord's Prayer. While I will be teaching on a young child's level, I hope that adults will also return to this powerful prayer. Why?
-- the act of praying of course connects us to God. Prayer doesn't boss or cajole God; rather, prayer is time spent with God, during which time God is spiritually forming and transforming us to be God's children in the world.
-- the Lord's prayer, as it's written in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, and as it's framed in Luther's Small Catechism, puts together some of the most basic and essential elements of prayer
-- because the Lord's prayer is so foundational, it is something we can return to even when memory fades or we can't find other words to pray.
Peace,
Pastor Wendolyn

Book Club
Tuesday, March 15th At 1:00 PM
At our March session, we are discussing Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos. The book is a winner of the Newbery Medal and the Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction. Melding the entirely true and the wildly fictional, Dead End in Norvelt is a semi-autobiography and novel about an incredible two months for a kid whose plans for vacation excitement are shot down when he is "grounded for life" by his feuding parents. But plenty of excitement (and shocks) are coming. Jack is launched on a strange adventure involving molten wax, Eleanor Roosevelt, twisted promises, a homemade airplane, Girl Scout cookies, a man on a trike, a dancing plague, voices from the past, Hells Angels . . . and possibly murder. Endlessly surprising, this sly, sharp-edged narrative is the author at his very best, making readers laugh out loud at the most unexpected things in a dead-funny depiction of growing up in a slightly off-kilter place where the past is present, the present is confusing, and the future is completely up in the air.

Music Ministry
At Lord Of Life
For a number of Christians, Lent is a time to "give up" and try something new. With that in mind, please consider getting involved with our Music Ministry at Lord of Life. You can try bell ringing, percussion instruments, singing in the Choir or Praise Team, or playing a musical instrument. The Lenten season is a little more than 6 weeks long (40 days) and is a great time to try something new. If you are interested, please contact Rick Krause or see him at church. A link to Rick’s email is provided below.

Hymns For The
Lent And
Easter Seasons
There are hundreds of hymns and songs that are sung throughout the church year. With so many to choose from, you may ask yourself: "Who decides on what we sing each week?" Well, this is your opportunity to contribute to our assembly song! Rick is currently planning the songs for the Lent and Easter seasons. Do you have any suggestions? Please see him in church or e-mail him and let him know of any hymns and songs that you would like to sing. He will do his best to incorporate them into our worship services. Thanks for your consideration!

From The Editors:
LifeLines Ending Song:
Our ending song is familiar to many at Lord Of Life despite no longer being in our ELW pew hymnal. It was composed by Lowell Mason, hymns of whom we still sing at Lord Of Life (Joy To The World, My Faith Looks Up To Thee, When I Survey The Wondrous Cross and Oh, For A Thousand Tongues To Sing). Nearer My God To Thee was deleted from our Lutheran hymnal when the "Green Hymnal," The Lutheran Book Of Worship, was introduced. It remains missing from our ELW. The hymn is appropriate during Lent since it proclaims our desire to become "nearer to God" during this church season.
