Mother and Son Avoid Homelessness
with a Little Help from the HSC
Kathy and her son were living with a roommate. However, after Kathy lost her job due to COVID-19 layoffs, they could not afford to stay there. Kathy used her savings to get by as long as she could. Within a short time she was out of options and and did not want to be on the streets with her child, so they came to to the Brian Garcia Welcome Center seeking assistance. HSC staff confirmed that Kathy's mother in Kansas was more than willing to take them in. Kathy was optimistic with the support she would have as well as employment opportunities available, and was incredibly grateful to avoid homelessness. HSC Staff purchased bus tickets for both Kathy and her son, and they were reunited with Kathy's mother back in Kansas.
Ivan Orozco, HSC Volunteer Coordinator, unloads bottled water from a generous donor
Our Next Bottled Water Drive
is this Saturday, March 6th
Our next bottled water donation drop-off at 15th Avenue & Harrison is this Saturday, March 6th from 9am to noon, and it couldn’t be easier. You pull up and our staff will remove the donations from your vehicle. Call Ivan Orozco at 602-282-0849 or email volunteer@hsc-az.org for more information.

While the HSC and our Campus partners are always in need of bottled water, the pandemic required us to start our ThirstAid campaign early this year. CDC guidelines for distancing and sanitation prevent us from offering refillable water stations. Therefore, we need your help to provide water for our collective clients.

You may also contribute online and help us purchase water in bulk at https://donorbox.org/hsc. Thank you!
