Preschool Activities

March is all about transportation! Water, air, land, and space! Our friends had so much fun exploring different ways to travel, pretending to be astronauts, setting up car ramps, and seeing how boats float in water.

Our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner was last week, and we had a great turnout! Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy this family meal together, and thank you to our amazing teachers and staff for cooking the delicious meal! Thank you so much for the generous donations we received at the dinner!

We are so thankful for our Preschool family - it truly is a joy to do life with you all!

Children and Youth Groups

Please note the change in date!

We are excited to see our children enjoy our church's programs and love the increasing numbers. Our next Junior Youth Group and Tiny Tots Group (pre-school age) will be on Sunday, March 30th, after worship. All children from preschool through 5th grade are welcome. On Sunday, April 20, we will meet at 9:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall to celebrate by hearing an Easter story, finding Easter eggs, and sharing breakfast. We want the congregation's support by donating plastic eggs, small individually wrapped candy, and/or small toys or stickers to stuff the eggs. We will have a box in the narthex for your donations.

Thank you for supporting our children.

Special Thank You's

A special thank you to Tommy for cutting down the broken limbs and trimming our tree on the playground after the storms.

A special shout out to Carl, Phil, Sarah, Bob, Linda, Debbie, and Kelly for helping clear the massive branches and limbs that were trimmed to make our playground safe for the children to play again!

A pickleball tournament was held here last month with the proceeds going to our preschool program. Total donations were $652.  A good time and terrific competition occurred during both sessions. Thank you all.

In late March, our next Pickleball Friendly Tournament will support the Park View Community Food Pantry.

Collection of Snacks for

SOL Testing at Heritage High School

Heritage High School students will be taking the Standards of Learning tests from April 28 to May 23. Research has shown that hunger has a negative impact on a student’s concentration, memory, and test performance. The Mission Team will be collecting snack items in advance of the testing so that snacks will be available to students during the testing period. We will collect snack items at HUMC from March 16 through April 13th at the display in the narthex.

Suggested donations include Individually wrapped:

Breakfast bars, Fig bars

Granola Bars, Protein Bars, Pop Tarts

Trail Mix, Cheese and Peanut Butter Crackers

Individually wrapped Lifesavers

If you would like to make a financial donation to the purchase of snack items there is a link and a QR code available for your convenience. Feel free to contact Becky Neilans at 434-851-4003 with any questions.

40 Days of Home Challenge Drive

Happy March! Goodbye, snow, and welcome sunshine! It's time to roll up our sleeves and get to work. Looking for ways to make a difference?

Join us for our 40 Days of Home Challenge as we collect much-needed items for our needy neighbors. Over 40 days, we ask that your organization host a Home Drive and help us collect supplies!

Here are the six categories of needs for collection over 6 weeks!

Toiletries

Cleaning Supplies

Cookware

Linens

Furniture

Utensils

As you collect supplies at your central location, you can have someone bring them to us as you need or wait until the end of your 40 days to bring us what you have collected. We can arrange a time to pick up any furniture from people's homes.

Congratulations to Alec Stickle. Alec is the oldest son of Eric Stickle, and Alec earned his second Eagle Scout Badge for redoing our steps back by the Library Door and Columbarium. Thank you, and great job, Alec!

Welcome Center on Sunday Mornings!

We are seeking volunteers to help with our Sunday morning hospitality. On Sunday mornings, snacks, coffee, and water are available in the Welcome Center before each service. Pre-packaged snacks are readily available and should be supplemented with fresh items you can easily pick up at your local grocery store. Folks who sign up need to have the Welcome Center ready at 8:45 and clean up after the worship service. . The Leadership Team has been taking care of this for the past year. More volunteers are needed to buy and put out the snacks on Sunday mornings, make the coffee, and clean up after the worship service (typically takes 15 minutes). More specific directions will be posted in the hospitality kitchen off the narthex. If you can help with hospitality this way, please click the link HERE. Thank you!
