Dear Parents,

What do our students learn in Phy Ed? Here is what is happening and all of the great learning in our advanced curriculum. HIgh expectations promote high achieving students. Teamwork, respect and confidence are always a priority in our learning community.

The students in grade K3 through grade 8 have regular warm-up exercises at the beginning of every class. Practicing gross motor skills such as running, skipping, sliding side to side, galloping and hopping are part of the regular routine. Students in grades 4 - 8 have more advanced warm-ups including multiple laps of jogging, static stretches, dynamic warmups, and sprinting.

All students in grades K3 - 3 are participating in a tumbling/gymnastics unit where they learn safety, balance beam, long jumps, frog walks, army crawl, cartwheel, handstands, and calisthenics.

Grades 4 - 8 are learning the importance of being a team player. They are studying handball including throwing games, bowling pin games, speed, competency, and invasions games.

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee curriculum standards covered in these units include maintaining stillness on different bases of support with different body shapes, rolling with either a narrow or curled body, transferring weight from feet to different body parts, support for balance, throwing overhand to a partner or at a target with accuracy at a reasonable distance, passing and receiving with locomotor patterns of running and direction, catching with a mature pattern for distance or appropriate activity during small-sided game. Our curriculum units meet/ exceed both state and diocesan standards.

Did you reserve your spot for Cabin Fever yet? We have an abundance of beautiful donation items with new raffles, games, the silent, online and live auction.
