3-6-25
Dear Friends,
Grace and peace to you in our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.
Sadly, news was shared via email on Tuesday, March 4 that Calvary Center School (CCS) will close on June 26, 2025. This difficult decision was made by Calvary’s Church Council at a meeting held on March 3, 2025. Despite the best efforts of the CCS staff and board members, CCS’s student enrollment has continued to decline. Unfortunately, the current student enrollment is not sufficient to financially support the school, and CCS is no longer in compliance with the financial requirements set forth in the school’s bylaws. Once again, this was a difficult decision to make. Feel free to contact the church office, myself or church council members for additional information. Prayers continue for everyone affected by this closure.
Yesterday on Ash Wednesday at Calvary, 207 people received ashes in the sign of the cross on their forehead. Ten churches participated in the ecumenical 7 pm celebratory service and Calvary folk attended the traditional 12 Noon service. Let’s commit to going deeper and wider in our faith this Lent.
A 6-week Lenten study based on The Way by Adam Hamilton aligns with our Lenten worship series. I am leading the evening study on Monday nights at 6:30 pm in the parlor. Nancy Mills is leading the daytime study on Wednesdays in Room 114 at 10 AM. All are welcome.
Thank you to Rev Phil Tocknell for leading worship on March 2. From that Sunday, our weekly homework is to answer, “What is God speaking into my life and my heart today? And, will I obey?”
This Sunday, we’ll begin a Lenten worship series Walking With Jesus. Let’s remember to set our clocks ahead one hour this Saturday for Daylight Saving Time. See you in worship!
Grace & Peace,
Pastor Linda

Children are invited to come forward for a special message. Afterwards, all children (K-5th grade) are dismissed to Sunday School in Room 214/216 with Ms. Kathryn where parents may pick them up after worship. Middle & High school youth are invited to join Ms. Nancy for a small group gathering in Room 217. For families with infants through 4-years-old , the Childs Chapel is available (located at the back of the sanctuary) so that families may worship together comfortably to God’s glory.
There is no greater peace of mind than knowing your personal property and accumulated wealth will be shared with family and loved ones exactly as you intend. If you wish to remember our church with a gift, this can be easily included in your will. - submitted by Rev. Dr. Bob Ireland, Stewardship Chair
We will offer two opportunities to attend a Lenten Study. We will be using The Way by Adam Hamilton. This study focuses on the life and teachings of Jesus and draws from the history, archaeology and the geography of the Holy Land. Pastor Linda will offer this study at 6:30 PM on Mondays in the parlor and Nancy Mills will offer the study at 10:00 AM on Wednesday in Room 114.
