Reminder: NO After School Activities Next Week 3/11- 14

Due to Parent Teacher Conferences next week, there are no after school activities all week. 

Please note that the following sports/music will still be taking place:
  • Track - Monday 3/11 and Wednesday 3/13
  • 5/6 Volleyball - Tuesday 3/12
  • Band - Wednesday 3/13
Please be sure to make the appropriate changes in your child's schedule on PikMyKid. This helps ensure that students are where they should be at dismissal. If you have any questions, please contact the Front Office at [email protected].
Call for Nominations & Applications for the
TCGIS School Board

By serving on the School Board, YOU can help our school, strengthen connections within our community, and make important decisions. The work of the Board ensures that TCGIS provides a meaningful education and experience for all students.

This year, the community will elect THREE board members to serve three year terms . We seek any interested persons (parents, teachers, and community members) , especially those with experience in board governance, financial compliance, marketing and development, legal matters, or education.

If you are interested in serving or would like to nominate someone to serve, all details and forms are attached in the links below. You do not need to be nominated to apply.

If you have questions or want to talk to a current board member about the role, responsibilities, and expectations, feel free to contact any of the   current Board members . Send your nominations or applications to Stephanie Forsland ([email protected]) .

Important Dates:
April 18 : All nominations and applications due by 4:45 pm.

Last Call for After School Activity Instructors

Can you believe it?! Our final session of after school activities will be starting soon! If you would like to offer an activity please fill out the attached form and email it to [email protected] or hand it in at the office by the end of the day TOMORROW. Session 3 of After School Activities will be starting the week of April 8. If you have any questions about teaching a class, please email Lauren Kalish at [email protected].

Registration for classes will open next Thursday, March 14.
Last Chance to Sign Up for Parent Teacher Conferences

The sign up for parent teacher conferences is still open! Conferences are from 4:00-7:30pm on Thursday, March 14 and 8:10am-3:30pm on Friday, March 15. The master password is  ptcspring2019
 
Before you log in, we suggest that you have the following information: 
  1. A list of all the teachers you would like to see. The online conference system will not tell you the names of your children's teachers.  
  2. The times you would like to have conferences. The system will tell you the available slots for all teachers.

Parent Council Nominations: Due Monday, March 11

Nominate yourself or a fellow  parent  to represent your class on TCGIS' first  Parent   Council!   Elternkontakte (EKs) in each grade are collecting nominations from every class for an online election that will take place March 15-22. Check your email for a message from your class EK! Missy Morrissey (Middle School) and Kim Kulhanek (Elementary School) are offering a summer MATH camp for girls with support from the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics Student Chapter at the University of Minnesota during the week of August 12th-16th.

What:  GEMs Summer Math camp
Where: University of Minnesota, Vincent Hall
When: August 12th-16th, 2018, from 9am-12pm.
Cost: $150 (daily snack provided)

Congratulations to this Week's Mausmünzen Winners


The selected students have shown exemplary behavior at TCGIS during the school day, and are representing their class and grade level. Meistermäuse have demonstrated to staff one or more of the following praised traits: Sicherheit (safety), Verantwortung (responsibility), and Respekt (respect).

Congratulations to Gus Korte (3b), Nika Scheid (5c), Ellie Willoughby (2a), Gunny Perchyshyn (7b) and drama teacher Frau Hall. Keep up the good work!
Board Announcements
Elections in D10 Are Coming Up!
On April 16  elections will be held for D10's Community Council Board. There are 9 board positions up for election. TCGIS's building project has shown how important local politics are to things like our building project. If you live in D10 and are interested in having a voice in your local community council, we urge you to run!

Facilities Committee Meeting March 12
The next facilities committee meeting is Tuesday, March 12, 6-7 pm in room 99. Anyone is welcome to attend. We'll be discussing the idea of a  gabion fence along the east side of the property as an art piece and noise-dampening barrier. We plan to submit an application for partial funding of the project through the  neighborhood STAR program.
PTO Announcements
Maskenball!!!  Get your tickets!!!

Join us at the TCGIS PTO Maskenball, an adults-only formal costume dance hosted this year at the lovely University Club of St. Paul. 

There will be appetizers, an art auction, a full cash bar, and wonderful ambiance at the University Club. A themed costume is encouraged, but not required.

March PTO Meeting:
Join the PTO on Wednesday March 13th at 6:30 p.m. in Room 100.The PTO has invited Ted Anderson and members of the board to come and answer facility questions and concerns. Childcare will be provided. 

March Sign Ups for Staff Appreciation: 
Kindergarten Families: Please consider contributing to our next early release potluck for teachers and staff! March 20th.  Sign up here!

6th Grade Families: Please consider contributing to the Intern Breakfast on Monday March 11th! Sign up here!

All Families: Please sign up for conference night buffet for staff on March 14th. PTO will get the pizza orders, but we still need a need extras like beverages and salads. 

Other March PTO Fundraisers:
Plant Sale: Who is ready for spring? Order your spring plants from Gertens starting March 7th through April 18th with the PTO.  We will have many beautiful options such as: hanging baskets and tubs, potted annuals, and basket flats of many varieties.

Davanni's Pizza:  A TCGIS tradition is back! Join us at Davanni's in Roseville for a pizza night or order takeout and bring it home!  Tuesday March 19th, 4pm-8pm (Davanni's Pizza 1905 Perimeter Road, Roseville)
GAI Announcements
Das Moderne Deutschland The Series provides educational experiences focusing on Germany's approach and success in areas including culture and society, Climate Smart municipalities, sustainable building practices, and earth friendly initiatives. 
Kaffeestube Talk: Building a Sustainable Home is scheduled this Saturday, March 9 at 11:00am

Spring Spezial Short Courses and Special Topics start Thursday, March 7 with an advanced literature course. 
For beginning to advanced students, there is something for everyone

Our annual  Pork & Kraut dinner on March 23. This is German soul food - succulent roast pork and pork ribs with sauerkraut and potatoes. Toast your companions with Paulaner draft beer and German and Austrian wine, and if you have room, there are linzer bars for dessert.
