March 7 is Chapel Rock Sunday

Sunday, March 7, is Chapel Rock Sunday throughout the Diocese. Bishop Reddall asks that, on this day, each church and individual member support the Chapel Rock Campership Fund for the benefit of our children and youth. During summer 2019 over $45,000.00 was awarded to campers in need of financial aid. Please join with us in changing lives and help send children and youth to camp this summer! Please write Chapel Rock in the memo line on your check and drop that in the collection plate. You can also go to Chapel Rock’s website, www.chapelrock.net to contribute securely online.

Telecare Ministry
Mission Statement:
The Telecare Ministry’s mission is to connect with all of St. Luke’s church family, at least twice a year, to offer prayer and support where desired.
During this period of uncertainty many of us feel disconnected from our normal lifestyles and especially our St. Luke’s family. With over 300 congregants it is challenging to keep in touch with everyone during this pandemic time. In an effort to do so, your Pastoral Care team has gathered volunteers, from our congregation, to make phone calls to everyone listed in our church directory.
The Telecare Ministry is a layperson phone ministry that is meant to provide support by connecting with our church family. From time-to-time, our ministers will call each parishioner and offer the person an opportunity to “check-in.” They’ll ask, “How are you doing?” and find out if you, or anyone in your family, have any concerns we can help you address. Prayer support will be offered, if desired, as well as finding out if you would like to schedule a Clergy call or visit.
Our Telecare Team will begin calling this weekend and our goal is to contact each family over the next week or so. I know many of us don’t answer the phone if we don’t recognize the phone number calling. Since some of us have a long-distance number it can be mistaken as another spam call. Our volunteers will leave a message if the call is unanswered and call back a second time if they don’t hear from you. After that we will send a postcard to let you know we tried to call and invite you to contact us. We want to be sure and connect with everyone!
This ministry is directed by Deacon Chris Christy and Pastoral Care Chairperson Carolyn Jones.
If you have questions, please contact Deacon Chris at (928) 533-5012 or email: chris@slecp.org.

Gathering for Abundant Life Phase 2.5

Inquirers' Class Starting March 14

Do you want to become a member of the Episcopal Church?

An eight-week series of Inquirers’ Classes will begin on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of St. Luke’s Church to prepare those persons who have not yet been sacramentally confirmed (coming from a Protestant tradition) or received (coming from a Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox tradition) by a bishop in the Episcopal Church, or those who simply want to refresh their understanding of the practice of the Christian Faith in our tradition.

YOU are invited to join us for these presentations and discussions! We hope you will be a participant! Masks are required.

We did it!!! A big thank you to all the volunteers of Operation Deep Freeze!

St. Luke’s Outreach Commission volunteered for two weeks in February to cook a dinner meal for our brothers and sisters who sleep in the out of doors. The Salvation Army and Prescott Area Shelter open their doors to these people when the temperature reaches 30 or below. The women are taken by van to the Prescott Area Shelter to sleep and the men sleep at the Salvation Army on mats on the floor. This year, the total people being served a meal per night ranged from 6-21 people per night during our two weeks.

Out of the 14 nights St. Luke’s was responsible for providing, cooking, and serving the meal, ODF was open 9 of the 14 nights.

Thank you to the following for being ready and prepared to cook if you were called for a night of cooking and fellowship: Julie Sims, Marty Lewis, Kathy and Jim Pessin, George Chesney, Sue Fiorey, Carolyn Jones, Carol and Jerry Sweden, Robin Borok, Brenda Schwartz, Charles and Carol Covert, Bonnie Cain, Robert DeSantis and Ms. DeSantis, Jeanne and Neil Waterman, Cynthia Moreno, Gayle Gregory, John Thompson, Sharon Harris, Marsha Gehl, Dennis and Kay Houser, Kari Jamison, Pam and Murry Williams, Darrell and Susan Anderson, Annie Rairden, Becky Hansen, Mary Berkheiser, Sophie Buisson, Clement, Camron, Brody, Wayne and Mary Hallford.

And THANK YOU Fr. Pierre-Henry for your thoughtful announcements and Lauree Birchmeir and Beth Parknowitz for sending the special requests for help.

Thank you for sharing your stories of how loving, gracious, and friendly all the guests were.

You are all a BLESSING to our brothers and sisters in need. Without you, these two weeks would not have been the success they were. Thank you for all your GENEROSITY, KINDNESS and LOVE.
If you need to be reimbursed for the food you purchased, please call: Mary Hallford at 602-796-1177.
