Severe Weather Preparedness

In the last couple months we've experienced snowstorms and polar vortexes. Even as I finish up this email, we are on the verge of another round of snow. But Spring isn't too far away, and with it is the potential for other forms of severe weather. Although the Illinois tornadoes this last December and last week's devastating tornado in Alabama have shown us severe weather can happen at any time, March is when many of us switch gears from worrying about frigid temperatures and snowstorms and begin to prepare for thunderstorms, flooding, tornadoes, and other severe weather. The Illinois School and Campus Safety Resource Center website has a variety of resources on severe weather preparedness, including type-specific resources on tornadoes, flooding, and thunderstorms/lightning, as well as resources specifically for schools.
