SEMA FOUNDATION INVITES DAYSPRING MEMBERS TO RAMADAN DINNER

The Sema Foundation, who joined us for our recent “Sacred Earth: Common Ground” storytelling event, invites everyone to a joyful Iftar Ramadan Dinner on March 23, 6:30 p.m. at their Chandler location. The event is free but requires an RSVP so they can plan accordingly. Please RSVP here to join in this traditional Turkish dinner following their dawn-to-sunset fast. The dinner will be held at the Sema Cultural Center, 325 N. Austin Drive in Chandler.

TOOTHBRUSH DRIVE

Our children are collecting toothbrushes to send along with the medical and dental mission trip to Tochimilzoco, Mexico. Now through Palm Sunday, we are collecting new, individually wrapped toothbrushes, floss, and travel sized toothpaste. Children can bring their donations to Sunday school and there are collection boxes in the narthex.

OAK FLAT COURT DECISION DENIES RELIGIOUS FREEDOM FOR APACHE STRONGHOLD

On March 1st, a divided federal court (6-5) refused to protect Oak Flat, an ancient Native American sacred site, from destruction by a multinational mining giant. This beautiful, diverse ecosystem in the Tonto National Forest is a sacred site known to Apaches as Chi’chil Biłdagoteel. Apache Stronghold will now take their religious freedom case to the Supreme Court. To support their efforts, sign their petition here and write your U.S. House Representative and Senators urging them to support H.R. 1351, the “Save Oak Flat from Mining Act.” (Rep. Raul Grijalva introduced this act and no other Arizona representatives have sponsored it.) The planned copper mine would leave behind a crater two miles wide and 1,000 feet deep, spreading toxic waste over the entire area.

COLUMBARIUM SURVEY

We are exploring the idea of a Dayspring Columbarium. This project would help improve missions and ministry and enhance the beauty of our church, while accommodating the true, growing needs of our members. In addition, it will help grow greater emotional bonds between church and family. IF you are interested in this project or in learning more, please take the survey online by clicking the button below. Paper surveys will be available on Sunday morning.
