COACHES UPDATES


Greetings MI Track & Field!


We had a great first week of track practice with a record number of kids, over 150!  Thanks to the good weather we were able to set up the high jump and pole vault mats, open up the long/triple jump pits, throw shot/disc and go over some hurdles.  


Due to the SAT and other commitments, it was a small yet mighty group of athletes that turned out for yoga on Saturday. We got a good stretch and some great laughter during the partner poses. Thank you Booster Club for providing this instructor, bagels and fruit for the team.  


More Important Info:



  • The Spring Sports Parent Meeting is Tuesday at 6PM. Please attend for more detailed information and Q & A.
  • Set your goals! Whether you are coming out for PE credit, you want to get faster/stronger or you aspire to make the State podium, we expect the same commitment from you. Set your own goals and expectations for yourselves.
  • Eat mostly whole foods (not processed), plenty of fruits and veggies, avoid caffeine.
  • HYDRATE! Bring a water bottle to school and practice.
  • Get solid sleep. Suggested teens get 8+ hours a night.
  • Shin splint prevention - good shoes, avoiding hard surfaces and exercises like these. 
  • Remind your athletes to always come to practice expecting ANY type of weather. We want arms and legs covered to protect their muscles and stay healthy!
  • First meet at home is Thursday, March 20th 


Attendance is a big deal!

to practices Monday-Friday 3:15-5:00**



Saturday practices are optional and encouraged

SPIKE NIGHT


Saturday, March 15th 9-11am is "Spike Night" in the morning at Super Jock n Jill in Greenlake. They'll have treats and discounts on SPIKES, running, throwing, jumping shoes and everything else! Have your athlete check in with their coach as to what shoes to purchase.
