AIA LA Member Elevated to College of Fellows

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is elevating an AIA member from AIA Louisiana to its prestigious College of Fellows, AIA’s highest membership honor, for their exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society.

The fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession and made a significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level. Architects who have been elevated to fellowship can be identified by the designation FAIA after their name.

Ursula Emery McClure FAAR, FAIA, LEED BD+C, NCIDQ is partner of emerymcclure architecture, an architecture firm based in Lafayette, LA. She is also currently a Visiting Professor at The University of Texas at Arlington. An AIA Louisiana member for 20+ years, she has defined her career as a fusion from the onset of her professional education. She melds a recognized design practice, sponsored research, and

interdisciplinary teaching to focus on the resiliency between the constructed and the natural environments. Her advocacy and designs for intelligent adaptative preservation and reciprocity between the two environments have produced award-winning projects, research and sponsored learning environments scaling from exhibit installations to an

entire state’s coastline. Through emerymcclure architecture's research practice she challenges accepted conventions to propose more symbiotic relationships between nature and building.

SUPPLEMENTAL DUES TRANSITION

As part of dues structure transition, the AIA LA Supplemental Dues Taskforce would like to invite current AIA members (licensed architects and intern architects in LA) to participate in one of the sharing/listening sessions being offered over the next couple of months where you can hear more about this topic and ask relevant questions. You can also submit questions prior to the session via email HERE if you wish.

Below are a variety of dates to choose from:

  • You only need to register for one as they will all be the same format and information.
  • The person in your office that is in charge of dues calculations/payment of those invoices is welcome to attend. Please, simply forward this email to them and ask them to register; preferred that you attend the same one as they do, but not required.
  • You’ll notice there is a specific one for university professors. Only issues related to them specifically will be discussed there, so that is only open to them. All others are open to any AIA LA member or personnel responsible for dues payments.
