Throughout the month of April, Montgomery County Women's Center, will be joining the nation in promoting awareness of sexual assault. Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) gives our community the opportunity to speak up against sexual violence that will only continue to grow if we keep silent.
Community Highlights
LEADERS IN THE MAKING!!! Mitchell Intermediate from Conroe ISD chose the Montgomery County Women’s Center for their community service class. A group of 5th graders did a presentation for the whole school about MCWC, what we do, how we help the community and all the needs we have at our shelter. The class then organized a schoolwide donation drive. Thank you to these amazing kiddos for inspiring action at their school!

A huge thank you to our community partners, Drury Inn & Suites The Woodlands, who stopped by the store in March to donate new linens for clients at shelter and transitional housing and for those starting over and moving to new homes free from violence!!
SHOUT OUT to Lori for her amazing Mary Kay donation!! Mother’s Day is coming and these will be a great way to make the day special for our clients.
Thank you to Christina Mlaegwu with "Swaddle to Sandbox" who stopped by this month to donate new purses and backpacks for the agency!!
OUTREACH IN THE COMMUNITY
LoneStar College "Healthier-U" event at LoneStar College Montgomery is a way to support students and encourage healthy living! Our Outreach Team is proud to be a long time participant at these events. We love interacting with the students and staff and educating them about the services that we provide in the community.
Our shelter houses up to 75 women and children on any given night. They may stay with us for up to 30 days as they work to put their lives back together. We have an ongoing need for many items. Our shelter director keeps us updated on items that are specifically needed. Below is a list of our most urgent needs. If you are able to help, please bring your donations to Something Special, and specify that the items are for the shelter. You may also drop items off at our Woodlands or Conroe offices, if that is more convenient and mark them for the shelter.
