A Message from the

Executive Director

“Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” Psalm 34:3

We have just celebrated the greatest day in history—the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. My prayer is that we will continue to reflect on what His resurrection means and recommit to Him our devotion, obedience, and love.

Thank you for your generous support of the Crisis Pregnancy Center during last month’s Celebration of Life 2026 event. It was a wonderful time of rejoicing in all that God has done through you—our faithful partners in His work. The Lord has richly blessed this ministry through the leadership of Ancil Overbey, and we are deeply grateful for his faithful service.

This September, we will celebrate 40 years of ministry. In Scripture, the number 40 often symbolizes testing and refinement—a season in which faith is proven. It represents preparation, the completion of one season, and readiness for what God has promised next.

On Saturday, September 12, during our annual Walk for Life, we will celebrate God’s provision and His faithfulness over these past 40 years. At the same time, we will also celebrate our readiness for what comes next. This special event will be held at City Church’s outdoor amphitheater from 5:00–8:00 PM, and we are inviting the entire community to join us. If you have been part of this ministry in any way, we would love to have you there. Please save the date! More details will be shared soon.

At our Celebration of Life event, I briefly shared three words that best describe the direction we are moving forward.

Reach Rescue Relationship

Reach

Our plan is to increase our reach.

Right now, between 400 and 600 babies are aborted every week in Charlotte. Charlotte has become a hub for abortion in the Southeast. Women travel there from South Carolina, Georgia, and surrounding counties—including Gaston County.

We must reach the scared and desperate woman who believes abortion is her only option—before she calls a clinic, before she chats online, before she schedules an appointment.

We must be the first voice she hears.

A compassionate voice.

A caring voice.

A non-judgmental advocate who assures her that she is not alone.

Rescue

Every one of these babies—no matter how small, whether inside or outside the womb—is created in the image of God.

We must do everything we can to rescue them from the jaws of death.

That rescue begins when a woman walks through our doors and meets someone who loves her, listens to her, and walks alongside her in her journey.

We show her compassion.

We offer hope.

And we give her the opportunity to see the truth.

When she sees the ultrasound and hears that tiny heartbeat, she realizes that the life inside her is not just tissue. It is a baby.

Relationship

Ultimately, what these women need most is not just resources or services.

They need hope. They need a relationship with the One who can truly transform hearts and lives.

We must introduce them to the Way Maker, the One who gives strength, courage, and hope even in the darkest circumstances. We must share the Gospel with them, because only God can truly change hearts and minds.

And when He does, lives are saved—both the mother’s and the baby’s.

As we celebrate 40 years of God’s faithfulness, I believe with all my heart that the best days of this ministry are still ahead.

Together, we will reach more women, rescue more babies, and build life-changing relationships that point people to Christ.

Thank you for standing with us.

Thank you for believing in this mission.

And thank you for being part of what God is doing through the Crisis Pregnancy Center.

The work continues, and with God leading the way, the future is full of hope.

In His Service,

Desiree Miller

Lives Changed

YOU are the hands and feet of Jesus

"I remember when I contacted the crisis center like it was yesterday. I had just taken a home pregnancy test, and it was positive. I wasn’t in an ideal place in my life—my mother was incarcerated, and I hadn’t spoken to my father much, out of shame. I didn’t want to call him and add more disappointment.

My appointment was on a cold and rainy evening, and I had one of the latest appointments available. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I went in anyway. I was greeted warmly, signed in, and soon found myself talking to someone whose name I may not remember—but I will never forget the presence of peace I felt in that room. We talked, we prayed, and we discussed what I was going through. It was nothing short of phenomenal, yet I still walked out unsure if this was something I could handle.

Reality really set in when I told my significant other at the time. Let’s just say I didn’t get the most supportive response. Then, another family member—who was much younger than me, mind you—looked at me with despair and said, "What were you thinking?!" As if I had a perfect answer to that at the time!

I went back for another visit, and if my memory serves me right, it was for an ultrasound. That’s when I found out how far along I was. The interaction was so encouraging, and I left there choosing life for my child.

Looking back, I’m grateful I was led there instead of a traditional clinic, where faith-based support wouldn’t have been an option. I didn’t just find support—I found friends in Christ, and I knew God had placed the right people in my path.

Pregnancy was not easy for me. I walked to the bus stop every day to get to work. My uniform shirt got so small that I had to hide it under my apron because I couldn’t afford another one. *Fashion was not my priority lol I survived on employee meals at work—by the grace of God, I always had something to eat. It wasn’t easy, but I knew I had to keep going for my baby.

During this time, I started seeking God more and more. My aunt began picking me up for church, and on July 17, 2010, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl—7 lbs., 9 oz. 4:33pm Now, funny story... My daughter asks for more delivery pictures all the time and I don’t have any of her birth because, on my way to the hospital, a contraction hit, and I dropped my phone into my grandmother’s coffee. I'm sure she thinks I dropped the ball on this one, but this was definitely out of my control! But I say all of this to say—God used this pregnancy to draw me closer to Him so that I could serve Him. His purpose for my life was greater than my struggles.

Today, that baby girl is now 15 years old, and through all the trials and tribulations, we made it! I am now a successful business owner in the industry I always dreamed of working in, and I have raised a talented, driven, and humble young lady. John 13:7 says: “You may not realize what I’m doing now, but later you will understand.” And now, I truly understand the plan God had for our lives all along!"-- Tameika
