Athletic Update
SAINT FRANCIS SCHOOL STUDENT-ATHLETE NAMED GATORADE® HAWAII BOYS BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR.
In its 33rd year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, today announced Kameron Ng of Saint Francis School as its 2017-18 Gatorade Hawaii Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Ng is the first Gatorade Hawaii Boys Basketball Player of the Year to be chosen from Saint Francis School.
The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Ng as Hawaii’s best high school boys basketball player.
 
ILH AWARDS
Ron Durant was named Coach of the Year.
Kameron NG was named Player of the Year
Kaimi Kalei and Head Coach Chris Hoe were named recipients.
Kevin Gusman was named Bowling Coach of the year in the fall

SOFTBALL - GIRLS
Sammie Ofoia received a Full ride to Division 1 NCAA to play softball at Southern Illinois Edwardsville. 
Kolbee Kealoha received a 70% athletic scholarship to play softball at a Division II NCAA school William Jewel College, Liberty Missouri. 
Joelle Perriera received a Full ride to play Softball at a (NJCAA) Junior College Eastern Arizona, Thatcher Arizona.

STUDENT HONORS
Ciare Ratum was awarded a 4-year, full ride scholarship to Hawaii Pacific University. Ciare presented her video project "Turning Tides" which highlighted sustainability on keeping our oceans clean and using an approach to educating our youth in and outside of classrooms by developing curriculum. 
Recently Brittney Ganzelli was awarded the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Scholarship which is awarded to one student in each state.  This award is bestowed on “outstanding individuals in our society who have succeeded in the face of adversity” and scholarships “to encourage young people to pursue their dreams with determination and perseverance.”

Congratulations to the 2018 recipients of the Frank McHugh-O'Donavan Foundation award was proud to announce it's ten awardees for the 2018 class. HPD Chief of Police Campus visit
Chief Susan Ballard visits SFS
Honolulu Police Chief Susan Ballard presentation on Feb 27th at Saint Francis School said that she's against arming teachers, a proposal that's come out following the Florida school shooting. Ballard also spoke to students about her new position and said she never dreamed of becoming a police officer. She studied to be a teacher and thought about being a veterinarian
"An officer has to make a split second decisions when someone is coming toward them, 'Do I shoot or do I not shoot?'" she said Monday, at a talk with students at Saint Francis School. "Remember, they go through training every year to make these types of decisions, the teachers don't."

Keiki Caster Sara Kimoto
On March 2nd SFS's own Sara Kimoto was the Keiki Castor on KITV's morning news with Jordan Segundo. Sara was a natural and enjoyed her first keiki castor roll and looks forward to other opportunities like this.

Every year Saint Francis's Alumni Association hold's their annual Bingo night so alumni can meet, re-connect and catch up with their friends and other classes.
 

Sister Margaret Antone Milho, OSF
Sister Margaret Antone Milho, O.S.F., 84, a Sister of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities went home to God at St. Francis Convent, Honolulu, on Wednesday, March 14, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Kilauea, Kauai, the daughter of the late Antone and Margaret Quinones Milho. Sister entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1952 and made her perpetual vows in 1958. She earned a Bachelor’s degree at Chaminade College of
Honolulu and a Master’s degree at the University of Hawaii. Sister spent sixty years in Catholic school education as a teacher, counselor, and administrator. Her assignments took her to Central New York, New Jersey, and North Carolina.
In Hawaii she was missioned in Ewa Beach, Hilo, Lahaina, and Pearl City She served as Principal of Saint Francis School from 1980 to 1982 and returned to Saint Francis School as
a Middle School Assistant Principal and Counselor in 1997 and retired in 2013.
