ThePrescribing Arts as a Health Tool

in Forsyth County

The Arts Council funded an Arts on Prescription pilot study which allows physicians to prescribe dance, music, art or creative writing experiences as a social behavior that can improve their health and wellbeing.

This innovative project brings together leadership from the Intergenerational Center for the Arts and Wellness at Senior Services, Inc, the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, Wake Forest University School of Medicine and independent teaching artists.

On Friday, February 13, we heard about Arts Rx Program at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center that inspired the project at the Arts, Health Care and Humanities in Action symposium.

Government Officials Visit the Arts Council

Shannon B. Henry immediately began advocating for the arts with our government officials including City Manager W. Patrick Pate and County Manager Shontell A. Robinson.

Record Breaking Ticket Sales!

The Arts Council owns the Main Gallery, Reynolds Place Theatre, Mountcastle Forum and Hanesbrands Theatre. These theaters are homes to resident theater companies, visiting Art Partners and co-productions run in collaboration with the Arts Council. February's co-productions reached record breaking ticket sales!
