BOMA and The People Concern
An Unbeatable Team Against the Fight on Homelessness
|
The homelessness crisis has gripped Los Angeles and affects all of us. BOMA/GLA recognizes that combating this issue is a priority for our members.
With this in mind, BOMA/GLA teamed up with an organization we believed could make the biggest impact in helping to solve this crisis: The People Concern.
Together we created, BOMA Cares "Hands Together", an initiative for our organization to ban together and collectively work towards combating this ever-growing issue through food and clothing drives, community events to assemble or serve lunches, preparing hygiene kits, and fundraising.
As we move into the next phase, we are pleased to announce that our President, Michele Ware, was elected to The People Concern Board of Directors. Michele will serve on the board to represent the interests of the commercial real estate industry as we work together to find solutions through housing and integrative services to put an end to homelessness.

BizFed Sacramento Days Recap
BOMA/GLA Advocacy Staff traveled to Sacramento this month as part of the Los Angeles County Business Federation’s (BizFed) “Sacramento Days.”
We joined with our allies in the business community to participate in small group meetings with legislators and their staff to hear about their legislative priorities and for us to express the challenges we are facing in the state.
We also attended intimate panels covering the big issues facing the business community in the state, including housing and homelessness, energy policy, and economic development. The legislature will face significant policy debates over CEQA reform, housing policy, and the pace of decarbonization. Keep track of how these debates will impact you by subscribing to BOMA on the Frontline.

Getting to Know Marline Millanponce-Camarena
Property Manager, Atlas Capital Group
Marline has been a BOMA/GLA member for over a decade. Having ready access to a huge network of connections she may turn to at any time for help is one of many benefits she derives from being an active member. She advises new members to make at least five new contacts at each event. It is the best way to grow your professional network.
In her spare time, she enjoys tattooing, roller skating, and binge-watching Suits. If she could have one meal for the rest of her life, it would be a club salad. Wish her luck because she is currently welding a custom-made bike to compete with other custom bike fabricators.
Marline is part of the Mixed-Use Property Managers (SIG) Special Interest Group.

Rockhill Management's Jaymi Lacap, Recounts Her BOMA Journey
I joined the Rising Star Mentorship Program as a mentor in early 2021. The following year, I was paired with the most ambitious and energetic mentee, Jessika Lloyd, Tenant Relations Coordinator, City of Beverly Hills. Jessika left an indelible mark in both my personal and professional life. From day one, we bonded over shared tenants, exchanged career advice, and attended numerous industry networking events together.
This program has not only served Jessika from a professional growth standpoint, but it has given me the opportunity to learn from the next generation of property management professionals who are shaping the industry today. Although our official mentorship ended a few months ago, Jessika and I are closer than ever, and we still talk on a weekly basis. I consider her one of my closest friends.
If you’re thinking about joining The Rising Star program as either a mentor or mentee, my advice is to sign up right away!
Jaymi N. Lacap, CPM® WELL AP
Senior Property Manager
