Stronger Together: Fire Recovery Donation Drive Moves to Phase II
We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support during Phase I of our Fire Recovery Donation Drive! Thanks to the generosity of over 100 buildings across LA and OC, we collected around 14,000 units of essential supplies to assist those affected by January’s fires. The dedication of our donors and volunteers truly reflected the strength and compassion of the BOMA community.
As we move into Phase II, we’ll be organizing and distributing these critical supplies, with our next distribution day on March 22, 2025. If you know someone in need, please share the BOMA/GLA Order Supply Form, or join us in making a difference by signing up to help.
Thank you for your kindness and commitment!

Get to Know Brenda Borja, Property Manager, JBM Realty
Why did you join BOMA/GLA?
Joining BOMA was recommended to me when I first started at Equity Office as a way to familiarize myself with the industry through networking and educational events.
What do you love most about commercial real estate industry?
I really value how the buildings we maintain and represent are not just physical structures but integral parts of the communities they serve. I especially appreciate how the CRE industry actively engages with and supports local initiatives that lead to positive change...It’s fulfilling to know that the work we do contributes to something greater than just the buildings themselves.
Who inspires you?
There have been many, but the first person who comes to mind is Xochitl Morales. She is always willing to listen, offering valuable insights and knowledge gained from her personal experiences. A true leader, motivator, and advocate for self-improvement, she inspires me and those around her. I strive to apply the wisdom she shares and am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have worked with her and still consider her one of my closest friends.
What's the first concert you ever attended?
Madonna - Like A Virgin Tour.
What are you currently binge-watching?
The Lincoln Lawyer - his house on the show is up the street from mine 🙂.

Maximizing Membership: Deanna Higuera on The Power of Engagement With BOMA/GLA | |
|
My name is Deanna Higuera and I am the Los Angeles Business Development/Regional Account Manager with First Onsite Property Restoration. My membership with BOMA GLA has provided me with many opportunities to meet and develop new industry relationships, as well as to further grow my business clientele.
My “secret sauce” for getting the most out of my membership is being willing to volunteer, serve, and get involved in the many activities and events that BOMA GLA offers. Events such as regional roundtables, discussions on local current events, political affairs and safety councils, numerous social gatherings, a reverse trade show, and golf tournaments—just to name a few—have proven to be successful platforms for growing my professional network, serving my community, and developing a deeper understanding of the commercial real estate industry, all while having a great time.

Policy Committees in Action
EcoSmart Solutions presented to our Sustainability Committee on LED lighting upgrades available at little to no cost through incentives and financing. The presentation explains how switching from outdated fluorescent lights saves energy, lowers maintenance, and provides quick returns.
Our Sustainability Committee also hosted an in-person seminar on LEED’s transition from version 4.1 to 5, covering new standards on climate resilience, equity, and decarbonization.
The update emphasized measurable sustainability through expanded carbon and energy reporting. Attendees also learned how on-bill financing can fund energy-saving upgrades like solar and EV charging with no upfront costs.
