Spotlight On...
Glarios Day of Care
and
Gloria Green, Proprietor
"Mrs. Green credits her success to years of building great relationships with families who return generation after generation to place their children and grandchildren in her care."
"Music is a brain builder for young children."
Whether it’s listening to music, singing along, clapping, swaying or dancing to the beat, music matters. When a child is exposed to music it is an opportunity for them to build vocabulary, develop language, enhance literacy readiness skills, strengthen memory, celebrate and express their joy, and engage with others. To utilize the power of music, incorporate singing songs, rhymes, fingerplays, instruments and dance parties into your daily schedule.

DCAEYC at NAEYC's 2020 Public Policy Forum
This year’s Public Policy Forum brought together 400 Early Childhood Education advocates from all over the country to Washington, DC. The first two days of the Forum provided sessions on advocacy, early childhood educators’ compensation, the 2020 Census, building and galvanizing your networking, and engaging with policymakers.
The Forum culminated with a visit by the DC Team to the Wilson Building to visit with Councilmembers (CM) to advocate for the funding of Birth-to-Three. Productive discussions were had with CM R. White and CM Grosso’s Legislative Directors. CM Gray met with the team personally and confirmed support for investments in high-quality learning for all. At the conclusion of each visit, each council member received a symbolic wooden train as thanks for “being on board” for high-quality child care.
