GLEN PATH IMPROVEMENTS

At the March 12th Council meeting, the Council will make a final review of a proposal for landscaping the area along the unused 104th Ave SE right-of-way between SE 28th and SE 29th Street, known as the Glen Path. These improvements will enhance the walking path, adding several native trees, shrubs, and other plantings to delineate the path and add to the buffer between neighboring private properties. Residents who are interested in this project are encouraged to attend the March meeting to review final plans and/or offer comments.

2024 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

The Town is undertaking a periodic review and update of its Comprehensive Plan, as required by the Washington State Growth Management Act (GMA). The Comprehensive Plan sets the community's 20-year vision for future growth and development. It serves as a collective vision and provides a roadmap for future decision-making to ensure the Town of Beaux Arts Village remains a desirable and safe environment for the enjoyment of all its citizens. Come and be a part of the discussion! The Planning Commission will be continuing their discussion on the 2024 Comprehensive Plan at their meeting on Thursday 3/21.

COUNCIL BUSINESS

The Council met on Tuesday February 13th to discuss/act on the following:

  • Confirmed the reappointment of Jeremy Laws to the Planning Commission.
  • Reviewed progress on the Town’s 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update and related Zoning Code changes.
  • Reviewed a second draft of plans for improvements to the Glen Path.
  • Continued discussing the distribution of Councilmember duties to promote cross-training. Councilmembers will each write a short document outlining what they do, who they contact, and any other information that is important to the cross-training endeavor.
  • Continued discussing legislative priorities, including ranking them. Mayor Howes will prepare a final draft for Council approval. Once approved, the list will be posted on the Town’s website and shared with groups who use this input to help represent the Town’s interests at the regional and state level, e.g., Sound Cities Association and Association of Washington Cities.
