REPUBLIC SERVICES – SERVICE INTERUPPTIONS

During periods of inclement weather, Republic Services may cancel weekly pickup service if it is not safe to drive parts of their pickup route. If service is canceled, they send out notifications to customers warning of the change in pickup service. If you did not receive a notification about these changes last month, please take a moment to sign up for the notification service. Information explaining how to do so can be found here: https://beauxarts-wa.gov/franchise-utilities . Scroll partway down the page to Republic Services for a full description.

ORDER NEW NAME SIGN

Have you recently moved to the Village or have a name sign that is looking a little worse for wear? If you would like to order a new sign, please send an email to Deputy Clerk Tych with your name and address no later than 3/20. The price is determined on number of letters but most recent orders have been under $20. Only one name sign is allowed per property.

LEAD WATER PIPES

Water Department Supervisor Bob Durr is preparing a survey response for the WA Dept of Health about lead pipes in our water system. While the water department doesn’t have any lead distribution piping, there may be some older homes that still have lead pipes. If you live in one of the older Village homes and think you may have or need helping determining if you have lead piping in your home, please send an email to Clerk/ Treasurer Spens with your name and address. She will collect responses and share them with Bob.

COUNCIL BUSINESS

The Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday February 11th to discuss/act on the following:

  • SALMON RECOVERY / WRIA 8: Approved the 2026 - 2035 Interlocal Agreement for Salmon Recovery Planning for the Lake Washington / Cedar River / Sammamish River watershed.
  • Continued discussing a draft ordinance related to camping on public property.
  • Continued discussing a prioritized list of tasks for the Planning Commission to undertake as time permits. The Planning Commission’s current focus is studying middle housing issues as mandated by the State.
  • Heard updates on several legislative bills in process that have the potential to impact Beaux Arts. Residents wanting more information may wish to visit the following online resources:
  • The Association of Washington Cities (AWC) releases an AWC Hot Sheet every week, which is provides an easy reference guide for certain bills of interest to cities.
