LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES

Each year, the Town Council prepares a list of legislative priorities for the year to guide their work on behalf of Town residents. The 2026 legislative priorities are as follows:

  1. Finish and Adopt a No Camping Policy – Work with Town Attorney to craft and adopt a No Camping Policy for town property , including ROW land.
  2.  Review and update the Credit Policy for permits – Planning Commission to review, revise and recommend an updated policy to Town Council for review and approval.
  3. Review and update the Tree Code - Planning Commission to review, revise and recommend an updated policy to Town Council for review and approval.
  4. Document and potentially craft a new agreement for the Bellevue Water service on 107th/108th - Work with the City of Bellevue to craft an agreement for the water service on 107th/108th.
  5. Balanced Budget – Revenue Sources, REET opened to more than just Capital Projects, reduce expenses and unfunded mandates including staff time

NOTIFICATION OF TOWNWIDE SURVEY PHASE 2

Phase 2 of the Townwide Survey, conducted by PACE Engineers, will begin on March 2nd. The purpose of the survey is to identify the boundary between public and private property, and will be helpful for possible upcoming planning projects. Phase 2 will include areas missed in the first phase, and will primarly focus on the eastern side of town. One additional phase of the survey will be completed at a later date.

COUNCIL BUSINESS

The Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, February 10th to discuss/act on the following:

  • Discussion of Councilmember Duties. All councilmembers will keep the same roles and duties from 2025.
  • Legislative Priorities for 2026 were set by Council.
  • The Council discussed the 2026 ROW Tree Management, and set a framework for spending the tree budget throughout 2026.
  • A No Camping Ordinance was discussed by Council, with input from Town Attorney Linehan. Council will continue to work with our attorney on the ordinance and will represent it for a vote at the March Council meeting.
  • The Council was reminded that Phase 2 of the PACE Engineering survey will begin soon.
  • The next Council meeting will be on March 10, 2026 at 7:00pm at Mayor Howes' home. At that meeting, Council will discuss the No Camping Ordinance, a possible Council Meeting date change for April, and will review the Purchasing Policy.

No permits were issued in March.
