1) Business License Renewals
The renewal period is now open for 2021 and businesses may renew their business license online. This is for the sq. ft.-based businesses and contractor license renewals only.
2021 Business License Fees: During the November 23, 2020 Board of Aldermen meeting, Mayor Pogue recommended reducing the 2021 business license fee by 20% for the businesses that pay their annual fee based on square footage, since all other business licenses will automatically be adjusted based on their 2020 receipts. This recommendation was unanimously approved by the Board and was included in the 2021 budget.

2021 Liquor License Fees: Earlier this year, the Mayor & Board of Aldermen agreed to waive all liquor license fees in 2021 for bars and restaurants. Liquor license renewals will be mailed in May.

Please direct all business, contractor, and liquor licensing questions to Kathy Medlin at [email protected] or (636) 207-2390.

3) Holloway Road Project
We wanted to make you aware of a significant construction project happening this summer.

The resurfacing of Holloway Road will occur this year to address deteriorated pavement, curbs, and gutters. Engineering for this project was completed in 2019 and 2020. Benefits include a smoother driving surface, the reduction of liability from tripping, and compliance with federal regulations. Total expense is budgeted at $1,156,040, with federal reimbursement of 80% of the project expenses (the net cost to the City is $231,208).

If you have questions or would like to discuss this project, please send an email to Public Works Director Jim Link at [email protected].
4) Catalytic Converter Thefts
A message from our Ballwin Police Department:

The catalytic converter on your car or work vehicle is something you probably don’t think about much. Palladium and rhodium are found inside catalytic converters. With the prices of these two precious metals on the rise, criminals are targeting any vehicle in which they can easily steal this common car part.

You will quickly be able to tell if the converter has been taken. Your exhaust will make a rumbling sound and get louder as you accelerate. You will also notice a gap in your exhaust where the converter has been cut off.

Some tips to keep your vehicle safe:
  • Park inside a garage or in a well-lit area;
  • Etch the vehicle’s VIN or license plate number on the converter;
  • Consult with your mechanic about installing a catalytic converter theft deterrent device.

If you are a victim of any theft, or notice any suspicious activity on your property or around your business, please call the Ballwin Police Department at (636) 227-9636.
