There are 2 more Winter Days scheduled before we open for the season: Saturday March 5 and Sunday, March 20.
We'll be letting people into the Giraffe Visitor Center during these March Winter Days, as long as the giraffes are comfortable. There might be lines, though, as they get used to visitors. This month, we're also planning to run the Zoo Train! Plus, there's lots of animals to see (and even some babies! See below!).
Winter Days are 12-3 pm (last entry at 2:30) and are free for Potawatomi Zoo Members. Non-members are $6.50 for adults, $5.50 for children, and free for babies 2 and under.

Volunteer Open House
Ever wondered what it was like to volunteer at the Zoo? We’re hosting a come-and-go open house on Sunday, March 27, from 1-2 pm.
You can ask all your questions about what being a volunteer means, what the volunteer options are, what training you’d need to do, and when you’d be able to start. It’s a great opportunity to figure out if volunteering at the Zoo is right for you.
Applications for individuals AND groups to volunteer are available online.

This female Sichuan takin kid was born March 2, 2022 to mom Yi Liu and dad Caboose. This is Yi Liu's second kid and Caboose's first.
Sichuan takin are a rare species, considered vulnerable to extinction. They’re native to the same Himalayan forests as giant pandas and are well-adapted to cold and high altitudes. Sichuan takin babies, like many hoofed animals, get up and nurse within an hour or two of being born, and it doesn’t take them long to start climbing on rocks and playing.
The kid should be visible in the main Sichuan takin habitat with her mother and family.
