2021 March Buzz
The Zoo Opens April 2
We’re opening on April 2 this year! Regular hours are 10 am to 5 pm daily until the last day of the season, October 31. Like last year, there are extended summer hours from June 1 to August 31, 10 am to 8 pm.

Regular admission is $11 for adults; $9 for children ages 3-14 and seniors 62+; and free for children 2 and under. Zoo Members get free regular admission during normal Zoo hours and extended summer hours.

Masks are required to enter the Zoo, in indoor buildings, for Education programs, and when social distancing is not possible.

The Potawatomi Zoo Express Train and Endangered Species Carousel will also open on April 2. Tickets for the train and carousel are $3 per ticket.

We’re really excited to be opening the Learning Center back up, although since it’s an indoor building, masks will be required and there may be capacity limits on busy days.

Keep an eye on our website and Facebook events page for classes, events, closed dates, animal experiences and more!

Giraffes Coming To The Zoo
Last year, we started raising money to build a new giraffe habitat and feeding experience at the heart of the Zoo. We’re so proud to have started construction already!

Our plan is to have giraffes and be open by the end of the year, but we need your help to reach our goal!

The Big & Loud campaign is a $6.3 million campaign, the largest in Zoo history, and will include a 10,000 square foot giraffe barn, feeding deck, 2.5-acre habitat. Also included in the campaign are funds for renovating the old chimpanzee habitat and building for lions.

The giraffe barn will have a visitor-viewing area inside where visitors can see and feed giraffes all year long. Very few zoos in the country offer this unique opportunity.

Summer Zoo Camp

Summer Zoo Camps are open for registration now! Each camp is five days (half days for our youngest campers) at the Zoo with age-appropriate activities, games, learning, and animal experiences.

This year, camps are divided up based on grade your child is going into from kindergarten to 6th grade. There's also a spring Camp In A Box for at-home fun. Each camp is a little different, so check out the options and prices online.

There is a discount for members. If you’re a Zoo Member, you'll need to register or login to our purchasing portal before buying the camp.

Eat & Drink at the Zoo

Join us for the Zoo’s newest event, Eat & Drink At The Zoo! This fun new 21 and over event is May 15, 2-5 pm (the Zoo is closed for regular hours that day).

We’ll have food and adult beverages at stations around the Zoo so you can try samples from local eateries and breweries while you walk around the Zoo.

Tickets go on sale March 29 and are $75 per person which includes samples.

There are sponsorship and table options on our website as well.

Zoo Map Updates
Some additions to the Zoo this year include the new Australia yard near the alligator deck, the new nursing room in the Learning Center, and the AEP Foundation STEM Classroom in the Tire Rack Education Center.

Coming Soon: giraffes!
