FIELD TRIPS

Our traditional annual field trip to Middle Creek National Wildlife Management Area was not scheduled because of the closures to key areas like Willow Point and other public locations due to the H1N1 virus threat to Snow Geese and other waterfowl. We will look to reschedule this field trip in 2026.

Puerto Rico: Boricua Birds

December 1 to 7, 2025

Leaders: Jason Hall, InColorBirding & Troy Bynum, Liberty Bird Alliance

This is a Hillstar tour to Puerto Rico that begins in San Juan and making a loop around this rectangular island. The trip will seek not just the eighteen or so endemic birds, but also a greater understanding and appreciation of an island that is so much a part of the United States, yet geographically remote from most of us. Jason Hall and Troy Bynum will lead this trip. This Hillstar adventure is being promoted by InColorBirding, Liberty Bird Alliance, and the

Delaware Valley Ornithological Club. There are a few openings that remain – act now to secure a spot on this trip! For more details on itinerary and costs go to:

Liberty Bird Alliance Invites Volunteers for the Ambassador Program

The major tenets of the Liberty Bird Alliance are education, conservation, advocacy, and outreach for nature and birds. In keeping with this focus, the Liberty Bird Alliance invites interested volunteers to apply for the LBA Ambassador Program. This new initiative, being rolled out in winter/spring 2025, will allow you to learn more about the education, conservation, advocacy, and outreach efforts of LBA while participating in specific outreach through community events. If you are interested in birds/conservation, like talking to people, and are interested in new opportunities to volunteer with a nature-minded organization, the LBA Ambassador Program is for you.

Those who apply to be LBA Ambassadors will commit to attending at least 3 outreach or education events of the 12-15 outreach events we participate in each spring and fall. Ambassadors will receive training in early spring 2025 to represent LBA in spring 2025 and beyond.

Eligibility to apply:

●     Be interested in speaking with the community about conservation, nature, and birds

●     Have availability for at least 3 events in the spring and fall to attend outreach /education events

●     Be willing to participate in a training day in early April 2025 (exact date TBD) to learn how to table for Liberty Bird Alliance

The benefits of being an LBA Ambassador include:

  1. Learn more about the Liberty Bird Alliance and the work we do
  2. Learn about bird conservation related explicitly to bird feeding and getting young people interested in supporting nature
  3. Meeting people in the community and sharing about conservation, nature, and birds
  4. Receive LBA-branded SWAG to wear at community events

To apply for the LBA Ambassador program, please click here and complete the application form by Monday, March 31, 20205. For more information or questions, please contact LBA Secretary Jason Porter at porter.jason3@gmail.com.
