MARCH 2021
|
|
It is hard to believe it has been a year since our world was turned upside down with the effects of COVID-19. It has been a difficult and challenging time. We have seen great tragedy as we have lost our own parishioners, and great triumph as our faith community has stepped up to take care of our most vulnerable.
As we continue our Lenten journey towards Easter, we can reflect that this is a time for renewing our faith, hope and love. Our faith has been tested. We have not been able to gather to worship as we once did, and it will take an effort to bring our family back together as it once was. But we are seeing positive signs, like the success of our Men’s Retreat this month where 85 men from the parish united (some virtually, some in-person) to pray. I know this is just the beginning.
Hope in these trying times is more important than ever. As we approach Easter we see that even in the darkest times in Jesus’ life there was always the hope of the Resurrection. The love that God showed us by sending us his only Son to suffer, die and rise from the dead is the centerpiece of this most Holy season. We need to remember that His love will not and has not faltered during this time.
Continue to pray for those that have lost loved ones and who are sick. I will continue to pray for you. As we enter the spring let us all experience the new life and new beginnings all around us and seek the faith, hope and love of the Easter Season.
Sincerely in Christ,
Rev. Msgr. Joseph M. Hendricks

Saint Brigid School Children Begin Returning to Mass
|
Children attending Saint Brigid of Kildare School will begin alternating their attendance of in-person daily Masses beginning Tuesday, March 23. Students will sit with their assigned classroom pods, seated six feet apart, and will follow all COVID safety protocols including wearing masks. Each Mass will be limited to three classroom pods, so grade levels will alternate which days they will attend in-person. Children will only attend the 9 AM Masses on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays (this will not impact the liturgies for these Masses). School parents will not be able to sit with their school children during these Masses to limit movement within the church.
The school children will continue to attend virtual school Masses on Thursdays at 9 AM (when it is not their classroom pod's day to attend in-person). We are excited for this step that will bring many of our parish children back into the physical presence of the church, and will allow our children to receive the physical Eucharist.

Disciple Maker Survey Closes March 21
|
The Disciple Maker Index Survey is open and we are asking for your help! Please help us participate by completing a 10-15 minute survey as soon as possible.
-
Online: Go to https://portal.catholicleaders.org/dmi/survey/kkdyx221y6 (or find this link by visiting www.stbrigidofkildare.org and search “survey”)
-
Paper: If you prefer to complete a paper survey, you may pick up a copy at the parish office during regular business hours, 8:30am-4:00pm Monday-Friday, or print at this link. Upon completion, the survey should be placed in a plain envelope, marked: ATTN: Survey, and either mailed to P.O. Box 3130, Dublin OH 43016 or dropped off at the parish office(to keep survey anonymous).
The survey will only be available until March 21, 2021. This survey will ask you to reflect on your own spiritual growth and enable you to provide feedback on our parish’s efforts to help you grow. All responses will be confidential and the parish will only receive information about the community as a whole.
We are trying to get the highest response rate possible. This information will be invaluable to Monsignor Hendricks and our various ministries as we plan for the future and strive to be the best disciples we can be. We will receive the results this spring/summer at which time we will share what we have learned with the entire parish.
Thank you for helping with this important project!

Saint Brigid of Kildare School Named 2021 Blue Ribbon School Finalist
|
We are excited to announce that we have been chosen as a finalist for the 2021 Blue Ribbon School award. We have been selected as one of the non-public school applications that will now move on from the Council for American Private Education (CAPE) to the U.S. Department of Education for judging. We will be notified in September 2021 if we have been chosen as a U.S. Department of Education 2021 Blue Ribbon School for Academic Excellence. If chosen, this will be our fifth national award, including three Blue Ribbon School awards, in the last 15 years.
In the fall of 2020, we applied for our third National Blue Ribbon School award after meeting eligibility criteria. Schools may only apply to receive a National Blue Ribbon School award every five years. We received this award in 2008 and 2014. We have again applied in the "High Performing Schools" category, which requires that the achievement of the school's students in the most recent year tested place the school in the top 15 percent in the nation in reading and mathematics as measured by a nationally normed test or in the top 15 percent of its state as measured by a state test.
In our 25th year, we are excited to be named a finalist for this prestigious award. As their website states, "The coveted National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content. The National Blue Ribbon School flag gracing an entry or flying overhead is a widely recognized symbol of exemplary teaching and learning."
We are eligible for this award because of our hard-working and dedicated teachers and staff, as well as our community of supportive parents and families.

Do you still not understand?
Are your hearts hardened?
Do you have eyes yet still do not see?
Do you have ears yet still do not hear?
Do you still not understand?
These questions are woven in and out through the Gospel of Mark and as we walk around inside the heart of this Gospel, we might ask ourselves the same questions. As we invite this gospel to hold up a mirror to our lives, Jesus might ask the same question of us.
Over the next few months, I hope that you will spend time with the Gospel of Mark, not just in the few hours that we gather via ZOOM but in your own study time, your own prayer time and in the common prayer of the Church’s liturgy. Mark is the primary Gospel for the liturgy this year. It is the perfect Gospel for the times in which we are living. Mark is a fast-paced gospel. Jesus is on a mission and is driven to see it to completion. Let the Gospel find the opening in you so that it can enter into you and move around in you. Look for the opening in the Gospel so that you can enter into it and walk around in it.

Habitat for Humanity Playhouse Project
The Playhouse Project is a unique opportunity that allows Habitat for Humanity MidOhio to partner with sponsors (like us!) to build a playhouse for a local family, providing children with a safe place to play and imagine what home means to them!
We design the playhouse (paint colors, accessories, etc.) based on the interests of the child/ family assigned to us. We build the playhouse from a kit provided by Habitat for Humanity. There is no building experience necessary to participate.
To maintain social distancing and PGC compliance, registration is open to the first 24 teens. To register, you MUST:
Be 14 years of age or older
Attend a team planning and design meeting from 7:30-8:30 PM on Wednesday, June 2
Attend the entire build day (9:15 AM-5 PM on Saturday, June 12)
Click here to see a photo album of playhouses built so far.
Registration will close when spots are full.
Dublin Giving Garden
Meet at the Dublin Giving Garden to care for creation and your neighbor as you water and weed the community garden beds. The produce harvested from the Giving Garden is donated to the Dublin food pantry to nourish our community. When? Every Tuesday, June 8 – August 10 from 10-11:30 AM
Patio Board Games
Join us for board games on the Massey Teen Room patio from 7:15-8:30 PM on Wednesdays, June 2, July 7, and August 4.
We will meet on the Massey Teen Room Patio (enter through Hendricks Hall).
