It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Mike Newman, the "father of BACnet."
Mike's initiative and efforts to standardize a data communication protocol for building automation will never be forgotten, and his legacy will be in the continued application of his standard.
Mike, along with Steve Bushby, hosted a wonderful session on "A BACnet Retrospective from People Who Were There" at the BACnet International Testing Symposium in 2018. If you'd like to hear the history of BACnet in Mike's words you can access the video

This is a huge loss for the BACnet community and we send our deepest sympathies to Mike's family and friends.

Save the Date for PlugFest
The 21st annual PlugFest Interoperability Workshop will be taking place
Tuesday, October 6 - Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Lab in Durham, New Hampshire.
The BTL Working Group will be meeting the day prior, on Monday, October 5, 2020.
More information, including registration, will be announced over the next few months.

AHR 2020 Education Session Videos Now Available

(TBI) website. To access the sessions, go to the Resources tab in TBI and enter "2020 AHR Expo
" in the search bar. Make sure "Abstract & Description" is checked.
One of the videos available is BACnet Edge Solutions: Ideal for IoT, presented by Roy Kolasa and Pat Tessier of Honeywell.
This session covered BACnet IoT Edge solutions and applications, considerations for design and specification, implementation, and success stories.

BACnet Secure Connect Interoperability Acceleration Program in Full Swing
BACnet International's
BACnet/SC Interoperability Acceleration Program
has begun with a combined total of 30 companies and educational institutions that have joined the program.
The Forum has been open for a month with several discussions already occurring, and the first webinar was held on February 28. The recording of this webinar is available for all participants. Following the webinar will be the release of the BACnet/SC Beta reference implementation on March 30th.

Automated Logic Honors Field Offices in Annual Awards
|
|
|
|
Automated Logic Corporation recently recognized Control Solutions Group as Field Office of the Year and Automated Logic Iowa for Project of the Year at its annual distribution meeting.
Over 300 participants from across the globe participated at the 32nd annual meeting, held this year in Cancun, Mexico. Events included educational sessions, networking opportunities and an awards banquet to recognize field offices for outstanding achievement. More than 70 awards were given to partners for milestones including service, sales growth and Quota Busters.
