Dear Parents and Families,
We continue our school-wide theme of learning about HOPE. Mrs. A. Sullivan and Mrs. Magalhaes presented their thoughts to the faculty at last week’s meeting.
This Jubilee Year is a time to rediscover our true identity as God's children and grow together in faith with our families. Pope Francis said the 2025 Jubilee is a time to “rekindle our hope” for our children and ourselves.
Sharing the Jubilee Year with our children helps them to feel deeply rooted in our identity as beloved sons and daughters of Christ. Scripture urges us to, “Always be ready to explain to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope” (1 Peter 3:15)
The Jubilee helps us remember we can live right now like people whose eyes are fixed on the goal of Heaven. The Jubilee reminds us to walk with Jesus every day.
This month, we discuss that hope means we can trust in God’s promise. The children will be asked to reflect on their spiritual journey in faith by analyzing recipes for pickles or stone soup.
How is a Christian like a pickle?
Students should conclude that though the cucumbers may take different journeys to become a pickle, in the end, they still become a pickle. Similarly, Christians don’t all have the same faith journey.
In the same way, a Christian needs a recipe book for Godly living. We can’t just read the Bible once and hope it will shape our faith. We have to soak in the Word and let it soak into us.
Sometimes, we have troubles in our lives. Those troubles can profoundly impact our faith when we set our eyes on the Lord and trust him in our trials. It is this faith in God, this trust in him, and our hope in him that helps us to “pickle” faster.
Knowing the full story of God and his people helps us understand our need for a savior and brings us to stronger faith.
