Yachad Welcomes New Homeowners and HandyMensch in time for Sukkot in Spring Healthy Home Repair Work
This spring, homeowners and HandyMensch are all part of our Healthy Housing work. This month Yachad begins work with homeowners referred to us through our partnership with Breathe Easy Home Asthma Visiting Program and Children's National IMPACT DC clinic. Yachad is also offering a 3-part Healthy Housing training program for our semi-skilled HandyMensch volunteers so that they will be able to undertake more extensive home remediation work related to health concerns.

Bad Housing Makes Kids Sick
Thank you to WUSA 9 News for shining a spotlight on what the medical and housing community already knows: poor housing makes kids sick. This revealing report shows in no uncertain terms that substandard housing conditions in the District of Columbia are making people ill and it's medically costly and it can be fixed.

Watch this interview with a mother whose daughter has chronic asthma due to a mold-infested apartment. The mother sums it up simply, "They deserve to have a healthy home."

We are recruiting businesses large and small to be partners in our work by sponsoring the health remediation and repair of one of the many homes we are working on this year. We offer a team-building opportunity while doing something worthwhile and of lasting importance in our community. Sponsorship levels start at $2,500 depending on the size of the group.
