We have been sending this Digital Citizenship newsletter to all families in the Mentor Schools for the last year. Sometimes it is easy to focus on the first word in the newsletter - digital - because part of the purpose of the newsletter is to share information with you around the digital resources our students can access to support learning. We must not forget, however, the importance of the second word - citizenship . A main goal we have for all of our students is for them to become informed and contributing members of society. In a time where so much of our information is gathered digitally, it is important to model and talk to our kids about the resources we use to inform ourselves. March is voting month, and there may be no more important time to be an informed person than when it is time to vote. Teaching our students to be critical of the resources they use to gather information about topics is something that is taught in our digital citizenship curriculum.

Here are a couple of additional resources that you may find helpful as you prepare to vote in March. We encourage you to talk to your own children about why you believe voting is an important part of Citizenship .
