Aiken Chamber to Produce New
Community Map & Resource Guide
| | |
The Aiken Chamber of Commerce is partnering again with Town Square Publications to produce a new, full-color Aiken Chamber of Commerce Street Map and Business & Professional Resource Guide. This publication will be the only official map endorsed and distributed by the Chamber and will serve as a valuable tool for visitors, new residents, relocating businesses, and long-time community members alike.
Accurate, easy-to-use maps play an important role in showcasing our community and helping people connect with local businesses and services. More than 7,000 copies of the map will be printed and distributed throughout the region over the next 18–24 months, with a digital version also available and linked on the Chamber’s website.
As part of this project, Chamber members have the opportunity to advertise in the Business & Professional Resource Guide featured on the map. Participating businesses will be listed by category and may include a brief description of their products or services. A limited number of premium advertising placements, including interior display panels and cover positions, are also available. Advertisers will receive a complimentary supply of folded maps to distribute directly to customers and clients.
This project is especially timely as relocation continues to be a major trend nationwide. New residents often seek out trusted local businesses quickly, making early visibility an important advantage for long-term customer relationships.
Chamber members should have received an email with full details about this project on February 25, 2026. Advertising opportunities are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
For additional information or to inquire about participation, members may contact Town Square Publications at 803.291.0388 or email marketing@tspubs.com.

First Friday Means Business:
Why Microreactors Matter in Aiken
| | |
At the Chamber's March 6th First Friday Means Business from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Newberry Hall, members will hear from Tom Mancinelli, Head of Federal Strategy and Policy for Antares.
Antares is an advanced nuclear energy company that develops small nuclear power systems for defense and space missions. Tom leads the company’s federal strategy, working closely with national leaders and agencies on energy and security issues.
Before joining Antares, Tom spent more than 15 years in federal service. He has served as Acting Under Secretary of the Navy, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs, National Security Advisor to U.S. Senator Chris Coons, and as a foreign affairs officer at the U.S. State Department. He also served in the United States Marine Corps and deployed twice to Iraq. Tom is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and earned his master’s degree from Georgetown University.
Tom will be discussing microreactors, what they are, why they matter, and why Aiken is well positioned to lead in this space. So, what is a microreactor?
A microreactor is a very small nuclear power system. It can produce reliable electricity for weeks or even months without needing new fuel. Unlike traditional power sources, it does not rely on fuel deliveries or the regular power grid staying online.
This is important for places that must always have power. That includes military bases, disaster response sites, communication centers, and other mission-critical operations. When storms hit or systems fail, these locations cannot afford to lose power.
Right now, the federal government is investing billions of dollars into this technology. Agencies like the Department of Homeland Security, the Army, and NASA are exploring how microreactors can support national security and emergency response. As these projects move forward, communities across the country are competing to become hubs for building, preparing, and supporting these systems. This is where Aiken comes in.
Our region, thanks to the Savannah River Site, already has a strong nuclear workforce, federal experience, high security standards, and existing infrastructure. That combination is rare. It puts Aiken in a unique position to support our region for long-term federal missions that support national security, resilience, and advanced energy. This could lead to durable economic growth, new partnerships, and expanded opportunities for our workforce.
Join us to learn what microreactors are, why they matter now, and what this opportunity could mean for Aiken’s future.
Thank you to our sponsor, BIT Services, for supporting this program.

A Night Celebrating the American Dream
The Aiken Chamber of Commerce was honored to welcome nearly 400 attendees to its sold-out Annual Dinner celebrating The American Dream at Goshen Farm. The evening brought together business, civic, and community leaders for a powerful reflection on the grit, perseverance, and leadership that define both our local economy and our shared future in Aiken. From opening remarks that highlighted the real stories behind entrepreneurship to moments of recognition and gratitude, the program underscored why connection and collaboration remain at the heart of this Chamber’s mission.

Greater Aiken SCORE Breaks Mentoring Record, Strengthening the Region’s Small Business
and Workforce Pipeline
Greater Aiken SCORE delivered a record-breaking year in 2025, mentoring more than 355 small business clients across its 16-county service area, including Aiken, North Augusta, and Augusta. Supported by 30 certified mentors and volunteers, the chapter continues to play a critical role in advancing entrepreneurship and economic resilience throughout the region.
For the Aiken Chamber, this milestone reflects more than strong numbers — it represents meaningful progress in strengthening the small business ecosystem and supporting long-term workforce development.
Small businesses are the backbone of the regional economy. Nationally, there are 14 million businesses with fewer than 10 employees, and nearly 4.7 million new businesses launch each year. Locally, many of these startups and growth-stage companies are the very employers who create jobs, provide career pathways, and anchor our communities.
SCORE’s no-cost, confidential mentoring services support entrepreneurs in three key phases: launching a new business, scaling operations, and preparing for succession or sale. Each phase has direct workforce implications — from helping first-time founders hire their first employee, to guiding established companies through expansion that creates new positions, to ensuring business continuity through successful ownership transitions.
When entrepreneurs succeed, jobs are created. When businesses grow strategically, they invest in people. And when succession planning is done well, companies remain rooted in our community rather than closing their doors. That continuity is essential to protecting both local jobs and institutional knowledge.
Greater Aiken SCORE’s impact also aligns closely with the Chamber’s advocacy priorities. By equipping entrepreneurs with expert guidance and connecting them to a national network of 10,000 volunteer mentors, SCORE strengthens the business climate that allows innovation, capital investment, and workforce participation to thrive.
Entrepreneurship is workforce development. It is talent attraction. It is economic diversification. And it is community stability.
As the Chamber continues to advance policies and partnerships that support business growth and employer-driven workforce solutions, organizations like Greater Aiken SCORE remain a vital partner in building a strong, competitive regional economy.
