L.O.V.E. Is the Answer

Educate Youth is delighted to share that we have received federal funding from the Department of Justice thanks to Congresswoman Debbie Dingell. These funds will be used for showings of the movie Walking While Black: L.O.V.E. Is the Answer in the community and with the Sheriff's Department.

Health Equity Focus Group

Educate Youth students participated in a focus group with Charles Wilson from the Washtenaw County Health Department. This focus group discussed different health deterrents in the 48197-98 zip codes, particularly the lack of access to a traditional grocery store in comparison to the corner stores. Since this focus group was made of our students, it placed an emphasis on how such health deterrents impact youth in the community.

Spring Break

A majority of the schools represented at Educate Youth are on spring break this week. So far, we have visited the Painters District Council in Warren to learn about apprenticeships in different trades like painting, drywall, and more! We will also be touring Wayne State University, and making a trip to Retirement Income Solutions to learn about financial literacy and management.
